Mr Paul Cook
28 January 2024 - 05:53 AM
Or could we soon be calling him Sir Paul… Without doubt the best manager & coach outside of the Championship.
Results are of course the main way to judge a manager, but for me his coaching & player development is what sets him apart from the rest. The improvement we’ve seen in multiple players since he’s been here, some of whom we’d written off, is insane.
Williams - Age 29 - Gradually being turned into a prime Rio.
Grimes - Age 33 - Older than most, and yet improved more over the past 2 years than ever before - now unbelievably consistent.
Oldaker - Age 25 - Turned from inconsistent and a 6/7 in most games to now absolutely controlling play. Much more still to come too.
Quigley - Age 27 - I mean, this Quigley is a completely different player to pre-Cook Quigley.
Mandy - Off his game currently but he’s stepped up another level under Cook.
Dobra - Age 22 - Always talented but he’s starting to run games, he’s added end product and will no doubt be a minimum Championship talent in future.
Horton, Clements, Shecks, Berry - All visibly improving week by week and all soon to become L1 standard ballers.
There are very few managers out there who can improve players like Cook can. He’s a proper football man, cares deeply for his players, can create a winning culture, and above all he loves CFC.
My friends, we are blessed to have this man at our club. -
Will Grigg

I thought it about time that old man Grigg deserved his own thread because today, once again, he was outstanding. Lead the line incredibly well, dropped into pockets to link play, never stopped running, and his positional intelligence is exceptional.
I’m even shocked at how many long balls he seems to win for a relatively small guy - Fantastic signing and he’s certainly making some eat their words. -
23/24 V 22/23 Comparison
10 September 2023 - 12:49 PM
There was a really good thread set up last season to track our results v prior year.
I found it really useful to see how we were comparing, and to keep things in perspective, so I figured I’d set this one up for this season.
First of all, we’ll need to replace those teams that left the league with those who have joined, for comparative purposes. So:
Wrexham are replaced with Hartlepool
Notts are replaced with Rochdale
Maidstone are replaced with Ebbsfleet
Scunthorpe are replaced with AFC Fylde
Yeovil are replaced with Kidderminster
Torquay are replaced with Oxford City
Results so far:
Dorking (H): W | W = Evens
Fylde (A): W | W = Evens
Oxford (A): W | W = Evens
Oldham (H): L | D = +1
Altrincham (A): W | L = -2
Hartlepool (H): W | W = -2
Aldershot (A): D | W = Evens
Dagenham (H): L | W = +3
So after 8 games, we’re currently 3pts up on the comparatives of last year. If we match all remaining results, we’ll finish on 87pts.
Alternatively, current pts per game = 2.375. Continue at this rate and we finish on 109pts.
Next up, Ebbsfleet. No chance to gain in this one, due to a last minute Oldaker thunderblaster against Maidstone last year.
I’ll try to keep this updated as we go. COYB.
