Defensively embarrassing.

Great game though.

Wife wanted to go to Bolsover Artisan Market, kids wanted to go to the Ashfield show but I won the toss.

Up the Spireites.

Weird game really. Will need to take more snacks if they’re going to finish at 10 past 5 ever week.

very weird game, could there be a call for extra sub to be used under this ruling? with games likely to be pushing 100 mins plus every week... the ruling is in place across football but in the top league they can make 5 subs.

Perhaps seeing the impact of it, there’ll be less inclination to bother in future as it won’t achieve anything.

Might stop some of the time wasting but won’t stop the ridiculous 2 minute goal celebrations

Silly thing is I’m not sure much of the 13mins was actually played. Prior to the winner they were taking ages to get the ball back in play.

Two more unmarked goals against us we don’t seem to learn.

Barnsley used 5 subs out of 7 on the bench today and they are in league one.

I still cannot believe we can only have 5 players on the bench in the NL. If they want to show that they are big enough to have more promotion places to the EFL then they need to start thinking bigger too and match what happens in the lower leagues of the EFL.

wasn't sure what the situation was with efl and subs so thanks for clearing that up, one for those who know these kind of things then, can rules be changed once a season has kicked off? or are we stuck with this scenario of playing 100 plus minute matches with just 3 changes whilst the 4 leagues above us can make 5?

Yep... 1 more than the opposition... if we do that in every game, I'll guarantee we get promoted.. 👍

I always refer to my grandkids as “the kids”. My own son and daughter aren’t kids.

Erm, we have our grandkids on Saturdays.

And blokes in their 90s have fathered children.

And 1 of my mates has 2 children in their 20s and 1 at primary school.

Why do you want to know my children’s and grandchildren’s ages anyway?

Kinda weird question to ask on a football message board and makes you come across as slightly odd.

Williams was so poor today.
Palmer might not have his pace but he can defend better and pass the ball better.
Today was his first strike, another howler like today and he's gotta be bounced. That was embarrassingly poor.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Palmer for me. Williams has had his chance.

Mentioned on another thread that the weakest link in that squad are the central defenders, but got negged for it. However it’s very apparent from today that the issue is still there. Grimes for all his passion and pride in playing for the club just can’t organise a defence, and his berating of our players not running on to yet another poor long pass from him when it was his own Hollywood ball that inevitably went astray was embarrassing. Williams just looks uneasy on the ball and doesn’t promote any kind of confidence that a situation will be taken care of.

We need to cut out the hospital balls at the back, far too many today and we’re losing possession on the edge of our own box - crazy!

Two good central defenders and we cruise that game. Unfortunately I think we’re in for some rollercoasters.

Really pleasing that the team can create and finish. When that proves more challenging then it will be even more imperative that we tighten up at the back.

Work in progress, and Cook will sort, but we must look at our defending.

keepers aside we have not invested in the defensive side of the game... ok to contradict myself, i think naylor is a top signing who will add value in the off the ball side of the game, but agree, a proper good centre back is what we are crying out for, this squad has goals in it but has concessions too, williams ??? and so you say get palmer in but let's be honest he wasn't great last season was he... then if grimes goes down who is the back up, maguire? not convinced that he is good enough at centre back, he's arguably our best defensive left back though.

Cook, Robbo and web need to coach the defenders. And the midfield. While we might not have L2 or L1 defenders like we do midfielders we have “capable” defenders m

This is a failing in coaching. A failing to identify weakness and mitigate
A new hope.
