He’s jumping attempting to win a header, defy anyone to jump and not have their arms/hands there….if that’s a pen then we may as well give up and spend 90 mins kicking the ball at peoples hands. Rule is unnatural position, I think it is this week anyway, and that’s not an unnatural position for the action he is taking attempting to jump for the header.
Prior to that casimero could easily have seen red for a tackle but isn’t even booked and then it’s probably a pen for a foul on De Bruyne but not given.

Even after he’s given it there is then probably a line to say it should be retaken for his run up. Been mentioned before yet they don’t seem to bother. There was a rule about hesitating in the run up not being allowed which you can argue his little riverdance jump is.

You’re letting your preference over rule a bit of common sense imo. It isn’t a pen for me because his body is in a down ward movement and twisting at the same time. There may be set rules in place but players in mid air cannot surely be deemed to be in control of their limb movements when momentum is taking them in a certain direction. The ball is dropping from above the players and the city lad doesn’t move his arm towards the ball - it could and was really ball to arm.
VAR is microscopically examining stuff in slow motion and not giving consideration for momentum. What was obvious about the hand ball ?

Its not VAR that is the problem it is still down to human interpretation of how it is used that is the problem
It needs ex players in with the referees to give their side of the incidents because I reckon most refs have not really played the game to any level and do not really understand what actually happens in a game
just saying

The same week as Kevin Horlock , Paul Dicko and some even worse players were wrestling a getaway from the third tier of English football
Today ( and hopefully Istanbul ) will be for those fans who didn’t walk away when the mighty Gillingham took a 2-0 lead
Pep Guardiola Roberto Mancini and that big Peruvian geezer we had all owe Guy Butters a Pint of Spitfire or whatever else they sup in Kent

Are the rules being interpreted completely correctly though?
I thought the offence of handball was committed if the ball touches a players hand/arm when it has made their body unnaturally bigger.
However, a player is only considered to have made their body unnaturally bigger when the position of their hand/arm is not a consequence of, or justifiable by, the player’s body movement for that specific situation.
Jack Grealish’s hand was quite clearly where it was because of his body movement and couldn’t have been anywhere else really.

I know those are the rules, so the stupid rules need binning, along with the utter nonsense called VAR. Those who thought VAR was a good idea were under the impression that it would clear up every incident conclusively, when, in fact, it just introduces further confusion, and also totally ruins the spontaneity of the game. Get rid of it now, keep the game flowing, and accept there will be dodgy refereeing decisions either way. If it delays the game, destroys the excitement, and still results in wrong decisions, it might as well be scrapped.
