We did Look at Boa Vista and were very tempted but the Comd-in-Chief prefers the look of Sal. Strange as it seems, the landscape appeals to me, I reckon I can have some fun with the old camera.
We YouTubed it to death last night and read countless reviews, plus a few of our friends have been and recommend it so we pulled the trigger last night.
Cheers

It's like being on Mars, can't remember which island I went to but there's not loads happening outside of whatever resort you're on so good for certain travellers but not others. I had a nice time there.

Yeah, I was told that by a friend of mine which really appeals to me if I am honest, she is an ex student of mine so we both have an eye for a photo. The resorts look nice as well with loads of things going on to keep us occupied.

One startling thing is the low sea temperatures for the latitude. Deep cold water which is very rough in places and attracts lots of surfers. I was prewarned and packed a thermal stretchy swimming vest thingy for messing in the shallows.

And isnt the whole thing to go and see somewhere different and not always go back to the same place, there is a lot of world out there to explore...

I agree, the more I look into the place, the more I am intreagued by it so looking forward to it
The only places I have been to more than once is Cornwall (I try to go every year), The Maldives, Langkawi and Croatia (going back to Brac for the second time this year).
I enjoy seeing and experiencing new places.

Just back from Dubrovnik - my first time there but will probably go back. Need to work out whether the Maldives or Mauritius appeals enough for next year or whether to do the Rocky Mountaineer across Canada....and then maybe up to Alaska.

Been to Mauritius and it was ok but sitting around all inclusive resorts is not really my sort of thing. We had a trip to the capital city which was a good day out. Out of those three it would be the Rocky Mountaineer all day long.

Yes son in law is just back from a work trip to Mauritius and said similar although he was in the capital for the two weeks.
Rocky Mountaineer my favourite but concerned it may not be very relaxing and I need a holiday to give me a rest too!

We were over for a friend of my wifes wedding, a few weeks after our own, and stopped in a more than decent all inclusive resort which was fine but it was basically pool, beach over the road with a few things to do and the free bar for 10 days! Now i like a swim etc but i'm not one for just sitting around sunbathing etc and prefer to do stuff so we had a couple of trips out and played a bit of boule on the beach etc. Our usual summer holiday is down towards the bottom end of France for a couple of weeks but we tend to drive down using a few days either end for travelling stopping at places and when there we have a fair few day trips out which are easier when you have the car.
When we went to Oz in 2010 for the cricket we initially looked at doing the train from Perth to Melbourne but ended up doing a car trip along Great Ocean Rd for 5 nights going from Melbourne to Adelaide then flew back to Melbourne for the cricket. Had a great time doing that.
Mauritius was also one of those places where you drove through some very poor deprived areas to get to your plush all inclusive resort which didnt sit quite right with me for some reason.
