Saturdays starting XI was our current strongest team (imo)

3 of those were loanees (Chapman.Yarney.Hollis)
1 of those is out of contract in the summer (Barry)
2 (or more) may also attract interest from League clubs (Evans.Rowley)
3 of the others possibly aren't the necessary standard for a team that hopes to be title challengers next season ?

So taking the above into account do we think there'll need to be wholesale changes during the summer or just will just a couple of new additions suffice ? - bearing in mind he's already on record saying he wants to reduce the squad size.

My view of next seasons opening day starting XI - compared to yesterdays starting XI

JALAL
(Stay/Start)

YARNEY-----------EVANS-------------HOLLIS
(Gone/Replace)- (Stay/Start) --- (Stay/Start)

BARRY --------------------- CHAPMAN
(Gone/New Player) (Gone/New Player)

ROWLEY--------WESTON--------SMITH
(Stay/Reserve) (Stay/Reserve) (Stay/Start)

DENTON------------BODEN
(Stay/Reserve) (Stay/Start)

Trotman has just signed a new deal with Darlington so he's unlikely.

The key is not to upset the dynamic of the squad too much with wholesale changes,5 or 6 new players is enough.deffo need more strength at the back,2 strikers,a decent holding midfielder and an attacking wide player.

"Can we please play with proper wingers next season. Pretty please."

As much as I like a good winger, the current formation is what's been getting us results 57%+ win rate...

Good wingers are like gold dust though. Even a the top level most are poor crosses of the ball. At this level there can't be many good ones about. Okay I'm a stay-away and haven't seen any of our games apart from the telivised matches, though they were bad enough in league two for me. I'd certainly welcome any good ones, but if they can't cross for toffee then Sheridan would be better lining up without out and out wingers imo.

I would guess the basis of the squad will be Jalal, Evans, Maguire, Smith, Rowley, Weston, Boden, Denton, and Carter as they have all played significant roles under Shez. Those with expiring contracts who have any chance of new deals are probably Barry and Weir. I would guess we could sign Hollis and bring back Yarnie and Chapman. That's 14 players excluding youngsters I know little about.

So, you say we only have 2 players that could attract interest from higher league clubs which means, I assume, that you think they could play at a higher level BUT you drop one of them whilst selecting ones you don't think are good enough to step up a league???

Yes I think Evans May attract interest from a higher league because he’s been our stand out player all season and is definitely good enough for Lge 2 or Lge 1.

I’m not Rowleys biggest fan, and think we could get an older head to do a better job, but I appreciate he’s young and has some potential which could attract a club in a higher league, and with 2 (?) yrs on his contract a half decent offer would see him sold.

If Carter gets back to his early season form then I’d pick him in front of Rowley every time. Plus I don’t think they can both play in the same team as together they are too lightweight for this league

Carter’s early season form comprised of four and a half games and he played reasonably well in maybe three of them. He’s still a lot to prove. I hope he does but Rowley looks a much better all round player to me. The comparison on Saturday was interesting. Rowley composed: Carter who had more space due to the state of the game hurried. Don’t get your logic if you think Rowley might attract a higher League Club but Carter won’t.

At least me and thee are singing from the same hymn sheet.

Rowley might have a lot to learn but a lot of our creative play has come through him in recent games.

I doubt Evans would attract L1 interest yet

Is Binman out of contract soon?

Players in contract until at least 2020 below (any other player can be released by JS).

Jalal,

Evans, Maguire,

Weston, Wedgbury, Rowley, Carter, Smith

Boden, Denton, Shaw

Likely to be squad players... Wakefield, Sharman, Rawson, amantchi

JS needs to sign/resign about 8/9 players then?
