Good morning.
Today we have signed Jake Bennett from Sheffield United on loan until the end of the season. He's a solid, reliable right-back and he'll go straight into the squad for our game at Halifax on Saturday.
I do hope you are all keeping well and I'm sure you all understand why I've gone a bit quiet and just focused on improving all aspects of our training, management and organisation. Soon, the old dog will be barking again!
Take care,
Martin

It's not like us to sign players after serious knee injuries...

Probably Daniel Johnson and Lee Novak, and were coming up for 3 years since they last played for us.
The rest of the loans have been downright dog dirt at times.

And next time Mickleover have a player will we be in the running for him?
Unfortunately I know the answers to both questions and so do you.

Because we don't have a reserve/development squad. We cannot afford to have another 20 players on the books to develop them

We've had issues in this position for some time. Barry has been sent out on loan as it seems that MA agrees with most posters that he isn't the answer. Drew is injured, again, but has hardly had a brilliant season with the last match he played in being his best leaving us with the makeshift Smith filling in in a position it's stated he's not played before. Whilst I have hopes that Ofoegbu will make it eventually now is not the right time to start him.
So, hopefully, this new lad is a good 'un.
Like others, I would like to see more of a cutting edge up front but Hines is back for Halifax and that should help with creativity in that department. A proper goalscorer would make a big difference though.
Midfield has been a concern but I was impressed with Rowley in his new role against Fylde and I would like to think this is a first step in improving that area of the team going forward.

If he was and EFL standard player he would be playing in the EFL. As long as he's a National League standard player he will be an improvement on what we have though. B****Y good luck to him.

Joe might well get dropped for the new lad, with Smith reverting back to being the defensive midfielder. I hope not.

Hopefully he is quick and can put a few good crosses in.
I notice also from the article that Evo has had another player from Sheff U.
