Seriously though, Aussie rugby adopt a brave and principled stance by axing their best player months before a world cup whilst Aussie cricket, errr, don't.

Brave and principled, maybe. But is it proportionate?

I suppose they would argue the difference is that Smith and Warner were punished and have served their bans out so are free for selection. Its probably no coincidence that the ban runs out just before the World Cup, seem to remember when they punished Warner for lamping Joe Root in a Birmingham bar the number of games he was banned finished just before an Ashes or World Cup started!
