That is actually really good to hear given how much of a problem position goalkeeper has been until now.
These go to eleven.

A narrow defeat at Adams Park surprised no one during our better seasons, so I'm not gonna be chucking myself off any tall buildings 'cos of this.

And as others have said this would've been a hammering a couple of months ago.

It's all about bouncing back at Stevenage, now.

Just seen their goal. Was that Reed who just let him go and shoot. Not impressed and neither was the rest of the defence by the look of it.

There was no difference between the two teams today, apart from the goal! They defended well, so did we. Neither midfields shone. They pumped a lot of balls into the box for Akinfenwa to challenge for. Dawson made a fantastic save and they hit the post. We had lots of possession and played the better football but created nothing. We only had them under pressure for the last few minutes.
MotM- no one really, probably Wiseman.

Fair summary. it is 10am on Sunday and if they were still playing I doubt if we would have scored. When there was nothing better to do than to pump it forward then it came straight back. Do we need an Akinfenwa ?

An Akinfenwa? Don't think you'll find many of them

Not seen the highlights you are right(bludy'l) Read switched off for a split second allowing their bloke time to get a yard of space and time to get a clear (and very good) shot in. Do the highlights show the clear push on Dennis in the first half? which Wycombe fans around me were stunned and relieved that we didn't get a pen

 Should never been allowed to get a shot in from where he did.

On the same bargain shelf as lower league fast, tall, ball playing centre backs.

Hey - a central defensive partnership that's supposedly 'only proven to concede loads of soft goals' kept an outfit who 'score for fun' to one yesterday...

Well said, both.

A bit of "intel" from a pal who's worked at Wycombe for a while:

We've had to show respect to you lot as you've done well recently. You're not the pushovers from earlier in the year. We'll be frustrating you and have our own ideas going forward but there won't be much space to play in. We can't afford to lose ground to those teams around us, so a point is fine; delighted to take all 3.

Word is getting round, and much like Jack is asking - the team is getting better every time it takes the field. No cause for alarm that we aren't in front right now.

Congratulations on this post. Teams were bound to get wise to us actually being a threat rather than a promise of three easy points.

Wycombe brought back Nathan Tyson after weeks out. That gave them a varied attack, despite its age. A lot of teams are going to be happy only to concede one to them.

It's football, you are going to lose games, you are going to find sometimes you can't quite get going. Especially when only a few weeks ago you were clearly the worst team in the country. Disregard all this garbage about we were never a bottom of the league team. Without the Jack Lester effect this team would be well clear at the bottom of the division.

Stevenage have 5 potential strikers all of whom are capable of troubling us. One is out on loan. The game is another potential defeat, but that wouldn't mean we have to return to suicidal GC mode. Good runs end that's all. We have lost consistently for a calendar year until the last few weeks. To win at Stevenage we need to worry less about the only goal we conceded and address the fact we dominated possession, but managed only 4 shots, none of which were on target. Winning that way is impossible and if we all know it I'm damned sure Jack Lester does.

And neither of the "central defensive partnership" were in anyway culpable for the one goal yesterday

Stevenage are in dire form at the moment, so there is some hope.
Per the highlights, and Phil Tooleys half time summary, we did get behind them on the wings a few times, but the crosses seemed to find their defenders or keeper. Clearly their defenders weren't in the same mood as Barnet's when they forgot to cover Weir's little trot into space.

But yes, you tend to have to shoot or head to score.

First half yesterday their defenders and keeper tended to be the only ones in the box (KD excepted occasionally) when we put in crosses so the odds would favour them.

Yes, that showed on the highlights. We had improved in that aspect under Jack.

Agreed that has to be the main priority rather than looking towards play offs etc

I think we will have disappointed quite a few clubs at the moment because we have dragged a few of them towards us who were probably thinking they had one less relegation place to worry about earlier in the season

That's OK then, but I thought the idea was to win.

Do you expect to be carrying a grudge into the next millennium with 60/70, or might you have some new interests before than?

The mere fact you have to post that shows you think they were culpable for a lot of the others.

Shows your talent for analysis.
