To be fair, both are not mutually exclusive
I doubt that many L2 clubs have a player wage bill of almost £3M. Room for considerable savings and still have a competitive budget to be used by a competent manager

Carson. " No bids received" ......." sorry what I meant to say was no bids of £15 million received" ....." dave doesn't think selling to a consortium works"
Local business make a tentative enquiry "how much do you want for your loss making business that's worth 7 million or so?" ...."15 million".....no thanks.
So, we are nearing the end game. Enough excuses to reject tentative offers, leaving Allen free to seek his own preferred buyer of choice. To quote one of my favourite all time films. Be afraid... Be very afraid.
I can't see this ending well. Not ending well at all.

'If we do go down'?
Get real, old man.
'Next year's player budget will be commensurate with the top half dozen clubs in L2'?
How do you know? Who exactly will those clubs be? What will their budgets be? Pointless statement.
'Danny Wilson wasn't my choice and has cost CFC money it couldn't afford'?
But Saunders was your choice - and how much did he cost us? What's more it was Wilson who kept us up after you sacked a bloke you appointed 'cos he talked a good game.
Carson interviewing a head of recruitment? Hold on - is it true the position hasn't even been advertised in professional circles? What assurance have we the appointment won't be just another Carson crony? Like the former Assay Office employee doing the kit man's job on more than his predecessor or the totally unqualified pretender supposedly investigating Mark Smith's academy?
Then you quit because long standing CFC supporting Boardmembers wouldn't put aside their interest payments? But have you put aside payments to A&S Leisure? And is it true you still wanted them out despite agreeing to your demand?
Dave; you've done a great deal of good for Chesterfield FC. I won't forget that and I'd urge others to join me. Yet you can't abdicate responsibility for where we are now: an embarrassed and alienated fanbase being asked to buy season tickets for a relegated and insolvent club. Largely populated by folk whose only connection is through their bank accounts. Oh, and don't forget the scandal, mismanagement and corruption you've totally failed to mention.
I want to believe you're an honest man. I want to believe you're as disgusted as the rest of us over what's happened at your club. I want to believe you're sincere in wanting what's best for those you once had 'bouncing'.
However actions speak louder than words. Let your actions allow us to remember the positives rather than the Wednesday-esque deja-vu we're currently experiencing...

Surprised you have said this given the good work you did chasing up Carson's lack of clarity
The player costs, including basic wages, bonuses loanees and NI clearly come to £2.9M.
Players £1,960,246
NI £302,425
Players Bonus £182,600
Players Appearance Money £132,000
Loan Player’s £305,347
I doubt things have changed too much this year

what could be more motivating to Bob's Board stalwarts than to prove Allen wrong about his assertion that Carson will stay until Allen sells the club?.
