I was in the brittania yesterday and there was a funeral on there, i noticed half the guests was wearing cfc ties. So that might have been another passing of a spireite.

That was probably for Ted Booker, good friends with Howard who announces the teams etc at the proact. Not sure if Ted was a town fan or not.

Devastated by this news. Carl and I attended quite a few games together as the Gloucestershire Spireites! Remember Portsmouth away two seasons ago when he told me about his illness, at the time he had a chemo pump on him but was incredibly positive about everything. We also played together in the first Bobs Board charity game at Saltergate.
A sad day indeed.

Spoke to Carl at the Bobs Board game it transpired he once lived very close to where I do. Great guy, deepest sympathies and to Ted another great bloke. What a sad sad weekend.

Sad news RIP Carl. Didn't know him, but his face is instantly recognisable in the picture after all these years following Town.

Was Carl Cirenspireite?

Carl was just 52 and used to live on Dark Lane / Calow Lane area of Calow. Originally went to Tapton House before moving over to Chesterfield Boys and then joining the Army. He served a fair bit in Hong Kong and I believe that is where her met and married his wife.

Terrible news when things looked to be on the up for Carl. Met Carl when I blocked him in at Cheltenham away in their car park, a lovely family who I send my sincere condolences.
God I hate this league.

Just bumping this back to the top, it is Carl's funeral tomorrow, of course it will be in Cirencester Gloucester where he now lives, but i have added on his facebook about him being remembered at the Memorial Garden anniversary event on August 5th and some have said they will be attending, this passing has touched me more than most do, probably because it was cancer, i have always felt guilty that i have survived it when there are those that don't......

Nothing to feel guilty about. You're one of the lucky ones Dema. Celebrate that.

Lost my mum to it but my Dad beat it.
