to keep Paul at the club says Turner in the club statement

If thats not an open veiled statement that he will be on his way as soon as the lose ends have been tied up then nothing is

In that case they will be offering Cook a better contract and a bigger L1 budget if we're in L1 next season. It goes without saying really.

And we didn't need to sell Doyle and wouldn't let the leagues leading goal scorer go for less than 2 million either!

That's how I saw it. Maybe da will be forced to fund the squad to keep cook or risk losing him. If they don't give him what he wants it could cost us more in the future.
Here we go again!

If Cook goes, and it's looking more and more likely that he will, gates will be nowhere near 7000 next season. They probably won't beat 6250. Which could well mean yet another large loss, and a further cut in the budget.

I'm worried, seriously worried. The financial state of the club last season set alarm bells ringing........then Turner suggested the only way to get the debts down was to be in the championship.....then we sell 2 of our best players without really replacing them.....and now it looks likely our manager will be allowed to leave for a compensatory fee rather than risk him resigning........is that how you get into the championship Mr Turner?

How can a £7,000,000 turnover this season end up like this?
A new hope.

We could end up in a downward spiral without investment and Cook's management, whereby the saleable assets continue to be sold piecemeal to cover losses from falling attendances and other income. We could reach a point where no saleable assets of any significance exist, depending of course on the recruitment success of whoever is in charge of the team. The likely outcome of that is lower squad budgets and L2 football, maybe within a couple of seasons. So dave allen is at a crossroads here with Cook. If Cook leaves I guess Richardson would go with him but he would probably get the gig here if he wanted it. He comes across as calm, confident and knowledgeable but I have no idea if he would make a successful manager. If Cook leaves the only manager I can think of who can find good players on the cheap and get them playing decent passing football is Keith Hill.
