Tell em to shove their 200k up their arris, why do we want to offload one of the most important players if we are to progress upwards. He is a crowd puller and there will be many Spireites unhappy to see him go, to me he's one of the best players we've had in years. There is no one better when he is on form.

Because we will get nothing when he leaves on a free at the end of the season.

We. Must. Not. Allow. Roberts. To. Leave.

So? He's worth more to us leaving for free and getting another year out of him.

How the hell can Bury afford £200k?
We get better crowds on the car boot than they get and we ain't got a pot to p**s in!

It's payable over 50 years at 0% interest

Our most creative player by a country mile, criminal that he's been touted around to get him off the wage bill.

If he wants to go, he will go. He is our top paid player and even without a fee his departure would free up significant funds for the new manager to use on strengthening his team.

He's our top paid player because he's our best player, who do you think will replace him on similar money?

This club never ceases to amaze me, the only positive from this fire sale is that it makes it easier for Allen to sell and he can **** off and for all take his S6 cronies with him

But the thing is though. That 32 yr old made us tick for the past two seasons.
We missed him in the games when he was injured so do we really wanna get rid?

Depends how Saunders wants to play - if he wants to play a patient passing game and unlock sides using guile Roberts is ideal.

If he wants to play a fast game using pace and getting the ball forward much quicker then he might not be ideal.

£200k is a cracking deal IMO

I agree with everything you've all said, but my crystal ball reading skills tell me what Uncle Dave's recent soundbite regarding young Gboly being "a poor man's Ronaldo" and "we'll be seeing a lot more of him next season" lead me to believe a deal approaching this fee will have CT and DA chomping at the bit.

Difficult to replace in footballing terms, but a good move for the budget. Plus - does Gary WANT to leave us?

All just my own opinion - I've no inside track on any of this. You won't hear me saying 'done deal'.

DA said 70/30 split between debts and playing budget. More like 90/10 though so only £20 k to budget

Although we've not seen any obvious evidence of the 70/30 split yet (another example of DA thinking with mouth?) surely there is a time when that proportion whatever it is, has to change

For example, If the worst happens and we sell 5 or 6 players for sinificant fees in a single year

Hoofball?

No. Hit the channels with pace, someone like Drew , get to the attacking 3rd and early balls into the box from Drew.

2 good forwards would thrive on that. Think how Keith Hill gets Bury to play.
A new hope.

Get a grip man. Talk about going ott. 'Fire sale' is quite frankly hilarious. Last I heard we haven't sold a single player. But, hey, don't let the facts ruin a good rant.

But what it or roberts Knocks on Saunders door and say he wants off? No point hanging on to a unhappy player no matter how good he is. Donut he would go to bury though, playing infront of 3-4 thousand every week.

I think its an excellent price if im honest as long as we buy a player for 200k that 20

Two points of concern ?

1. Does anyone seriously think we will get much of that towards new players.

2. It will more than likely be small amount upfront and small re-payments, not much good to us .

Also if Gary stays then it may help us to keep Jimmy.

True, but as his career winds down an easy commute to training must become more attractive

3. It's in the Sun and more than likely not true.

4. I doubt I'd trust Bury to pay 20 quid never mind 200k.

Not sure why we worry too much about receiving instalments. Its the way things are in the game, it pays a new player's wages, or, if we do choose to pay a fee, we would be offering the same method of settlement.

If Roberts goes he will go to a team which is likely to finish in the play-offs of their league; he always wants to be up there. That won't be Bury.

But Drew has never shown the ability to put accurate balls into the box, even on a semi-consistent basis. Why would we rely on him for supply?

As for this, nah. Roberts is our best player.

He'll definitely get better offers than Bury. Plus from what I remember there pitch is knackered by about November, not exactly great for a player with some hamstring injuries and getting on.

Can't see this really appealing to Roberts IMO

At his age, what normally appeals is the length of contract along with the amount of spendulos.
