thank the lord for that.

Still looks like that awful temporary effort is there down the side though.

Still can't believe they qualified for the FL's relocation grant towards new build costs based on the fact they moved the pitch about 20 yards north!

I wonder if we looked at moving the Saltergate pitch 5 yard south and still qualifying for the grant monies??

Good to see they are finally getting it sorted.

Were we the last fans to go in the old wooden end where there has been nothing for years? When think it was 1 - 1 Jonathan Douglas scored to keep us up.

Just wondering...

I have two more, very different memories of the old ground, one was being stuffed in to the corner of a stand and Brett Omerod being tackled (and going over very easily) and winning the free kick. He then limped to his feet and was hobbling around the box until the ball squirmed across to him, he beat a defender or two and slipped it in to the near post and ran away in celebration. ***!

The other memory was the old away end, which is now the home Kop end, last game of the season and both teams had been relegated. (think the game ebded 1-1 but not sure) there fans stormed the pitch and the police and stewards struggled to hold them, and they broke free and there were hundreds of them approaching out end (where we were penned in) they all stopped by the goal line and applauded our fans, which was reciprocated by our fans. Very surreal moment!!

Can't believe anyone would forget a game where Mark DeBolla scored - they were pretty few and far between!

That was a great game, town fans singing we are top of the league after 90 minutes of the season. I remember getting fried like an egg in that stand as the sun blazed down relentlessly. I'd been to the Edgbaston test against Australia the day before and was severely hung over!

 Hope the finish on the rest of the ground is better than the first stage which is already rusty. The third side is the Armfield stand and looks well with it's tangerine seats, pity the rest dont match!
