Another way of looking at it is that he kept Burnley in the PL for years against all odds and with no money. Plus Everton have been a basket case for years and he’s inherited something: impossible to turn around. The latter a bit like us and Jack Lester.

Hopefully he gets the chance to bring them back up, if they do drop out .. he's proven he's capable of getting promoted from the championship

No. Cos Dyche only had one day in the transfer window for Everton but Lester cocked up a full transfer window by signing kids who weren't up to the fight.

It’s rotten at the roots,we should know.
They can get all the top managers available,it won’t make any difference unless changes are made at the very top

Joe Linton sounds like a bruising centre back from South Elmsall.

Under Steve Bruce, Joe Linton was only a skelington of the player that he is now under Howe

To be fair, we were bottom of league, no budget and a basket case chairman as well as bad reputation. Who could he sign really? Ramsdale and Sid Nelson where excellent tbf
Within the space of two weeks, after getting us playing very well, he lost Lee, Evatt and Hird to injury.. 3 quality players with over 1000 appearances between them. No way he could replace those 3

He got a dreadful start thanks to Caldwell. I recall he had about 36 games to turn it round but couldn’t - you can’t argue it isn’t enough time. He brought in many players on loan and we paid for a couple of signings IIRC and he resigned Talbot, this is in spite of claims he had no finances to play with. Towards the end of the season when it was important to pick up wins we were toothless and we can’t even attribute that to playing possession football and being patient. We were poor.
No doubt some of the blame lies with the woeful start under Caldwell. The players have some blame too. As does Jack.

It was rank. Losing at home to the scabs that season just about tops it, though. That was my darkest footballing hour 🤢

True. Lester revived us to an extent and as the January transfer window opened, there was his chance to reshape the side as he wished. In came horrors, nobodies and not-readies like Whitmore, Kay, Dodds, Smith and Coke (permanent) and Mottley-Henry and Jacob Brown on loan. Those all did nowt for us. His other signings were Talbot (injured), Hines (middling), Nelson (popular because he tried hard but limited) and Ramsdale (okay for us but far, far from the player he became, at that tender age). Also two loan keepers Dawson and Eastwood who barely played before returning to their parent clubs.
Lester signed badly, we went down.
