Had a fantastic time at the Olympic Park yesterday and watched the GB hockey game. Atmosphere was amazing. If anyones off to the games and wants any info about the park etc either post here or drop me a pm and I'll do my best to help. Btw crowds were comfortable yesterday but I'd imagine it's going to be very very busy with the athletics starting today.

The site really is massive but a long day especially with kids in tow. Of course in reality I would have loved to have seen some athletics but at least I can say I was there !

Exactly. I tried really hard for tickets but failed, I had two weeks accommodation booked as well which I had to cancel because I didn't get tickets.

I am so chuffed you got to go youth.

I only managed the footy but hey, it was a great day out.

Off to the evening session of the athletics next Thursday. In London from about 11am onwards so we'll probably have a wander round the Olympic park to take it all in.

I've got athletics tickets on Wednesday (morning session), can't wait! Anything I should especially take in whilst in the park?

No bottled drinks at all. Like at the airports all liquids to be emptied but you can refill the empty bottles up inside with water . Loads of food outlets with a great choice. If you want to go up the tower I think you need to pre book. The area is unbelievably safe with you entering Olympic park spectator lanes as soon as you exit the station. No wandering like a lost sheep through "gang land". Entrance to the park is exactly like at the airports, bag scanners and scanning gates.

Just to add although there are various food outlets which are moderately expensive there's no problem with taking in your own packed lunch etc

Drinks are priced ok(ish)
Bottle of coke £2.30
Pint of lager £4.60 (at the football this week at Wembley they were £6.50)!

Food is about £7.50 for smallish portions which is a bit steep both there are a couple of mcD's.

I'm involved in transport of media, officlals and games family. And I do love carbon offsetting especially when it's free! ( I work for BP in my normal job lol)

Work for BP and enjoy carbon offsetting!!! Now theres a contradiction in job classification if ever there was one. Rather like working for the RSPCA Monday to Friday yet of a weekend train your beagles to smoke 80 woodbines a day with the aid of a pointy stick. ;-)
