Not forgetting that he is a constant aerial threat to opposition defences, big strong and powerful....The Chief is a far more effective player than Folan. Why do you think he's spent the majority of his career playing at a higher level and has universally been loved by fans at which ever club he's played for (Tranmere, Bristol City, Huddersfield, Sheff U, us).

Folan still hasn't proved himself at this level and he's outlasted the likes of N'Toya and Debolla who have been and gone. He needs to produce this season. As Big Ron would have it 'He's in the last chance saloon'.

Folan has scored 7 goals in 80 appearences and if memory serves he hasnt scored a single goal when he has started a match. He's not good enough get over it and move on.

Please come with an argument thats better than "well hes not as bad as X" and I might believe you.

You quote some figures to put Folan down but it is not surprising as most of those appearances were as substitute. He has scored when starting a game and, in fact , in their careers at chesterfield Folan has scored exactly the same number of goals as Larkin but in fewer starts and fewer minutes on the pitch. But you don't carp on about Larkin, not a titter. But of course you are prejudiced and presumably know no better.

When has he scored when starting a game?

The reason I say nothing about Larkin is that he brings others into the game and his partnership with Chief probably saved us from relegation despite him not getting as many goals as we would have liked.

The season Folan scored 6 they were all as sub and the only other goal was his debut goal v Notts County which I cant remember if he was sub or started. Soccerbase has Folan down for 39 starts and 41 sub appearances which for a return of 7 goals is pretty poor (its also more than Larkin's 31 starts and 10 sub).

Seriously do you Folan lovers have any other argument than "hes not quite as bad as X". The guy has had chance after chance and apart from a few token flashes has offered very little. He's taking a wage that could be used for someone else and I certainly wouldnt shed a tear if he was released but of course I'm "prejudiced" LOL.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Larking also creates goals directly for others if anyoen wants to look at the "assists" figures

You cumudgeon....you slag Folan off because of his scoring record and then when it is revealed that it is no worse than Larkin's ! you then shift the argument to bring in assists...well why not bring in headers won or tackles made or defensive blocks made or goals scored as a sub etc.
Interestingly you condemn Folan for not scoring but refer to Larkin ' not scoring as many as we would have liked (sic) 'when they have scored exactly the same number! The distinction is worthy of a politician and reveals your bigotry.
By the way he did start the Notts Co game.

If Town_Fan has got his stats right (no reason to doubt soccerbase), 7 goals in 39 starts and 41 sub appearances is certainly worse than 31 starts and 7 sub appearances.

So now I'm a bigot am I?

For thinking a player who has 1 goal in 39 starts wont be the answer to our lack of goals up front. If I'm a bigot then your an idiot, presumably the 72 reference in your name is your IQ.

I notice that once again you decry one of our other striker's stats rather than point out Folan's positives, is that because he doesnt have any and offers very little to the team?

Yes we want Larkin to get more goals and the point is he looks like he could do it, Folan however looks to be a waste of a wage.

we all like/rate certain players & dont like/rate others. unfortunately they're the only players we have & with our finances the only players we're likely tohave this season.
can we stop the slating of individuals at least until we're into the season proper.
