Obviously on a wind up here. Love him or hate him there was certainly no avoiding Gesler

He was the gentleman that led the town fans onto dozens of home ends in the late sixties early seventies. Not somebody you'd have wanted to fall out with. There are a few posters on here who will have lots of interesting stories to tell- as long as the statute of limitations has passed

When basically he was a football hooligan?
Does he now wear Burberry and talk about the old days?😅

Most town fans of a certain age know who Gessler was. He was the king of the kop and terror of the terraces back in the 70's way before the CBS and organised football firms became fashionable! Doc marts and skinheads were his era...
So there's you history lesson.... now stop teasing warfy!

As he died a couple of years ago I wouldn't think so....

Football violence related?
I did Google the name Gesler and all it showed was images of a buxom blonde with ringlets (I'm assuming it's not the same person)?

leaving the warfy bashing alone and getting back to the point of the thread
the squad we have now is good enough to get in the play offs if we don't lose anyone, we have proven this all season and even with no additions we have a team capable of going on a good run and sneaking into the play off places
I do not think it is prudent to chuck a load of money at the squad to try and buy a play off place (which does not guarantee promotion) and clubs have got into bother in the past trying to do so
I always laugh at people saying an owner should push the boat out or have ambition, people are very good at spending other peoples money!
That said, we do need more options up front and if we could get someone else in it would be great, whether this be on loan or whatever - but the books must be balanced, I would never want the future of the club put in doubt by chucking money at the squad to try and buy a play off place

I know it's a different era and all that, but Why did "taking thier kop" happen? What was the reasoning behind it all? What did it have to do with supporting your team?
I started watching town in the cox era and a similar age to CPS so I don't really "get it"
