So what do people think ????

Who would have thought that Doncaster a club who were usually Div 4 would have such good facilities ?

I asked my Huddersfield supporting mate what he thought when he was there for the 1st match

"Smaller version of the Riverside with no atmosphere, as usual. Steward told me off for smoking, when I told him there weren't any 'No Smoking' signs he ignored me"

they went from 6000 or so, up to 14000 against hudson and chums. not bad.

i bet they really regret having to move into a ground they dont own, and having a chairman with some ambition.
A new hope.

Hardly an inspiring design for the cost, for £32m I'd want a bit more 'design' in it. But it looks functional even if the seats behind the goal seem a little distant (rugby?). In terms of atmosphere I think any ground would take a few games to settle down.

Having driven past it, It looks like a slightly bigger Scunthorpe!! not impressed, granted I haven't been inside so...

Personally I prefer the Huddersfield Model of new ground.

If you think that about Donny's then Ive a sneaky feeling ours will disappoint as its getting less than inspiring with each passing artists impression.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Not necessarily. I do think however that we are moving when we are weak financially and I am worried that if the whole project isnt done correctly it could be a massive dissapointment when this club really needs a big boost. The new ground is the biggest watershed for this club in years and it needs to done correctly and not just for the sake of it.

Whatever we get is bound to be a dissapointment because we don't have the funds and are weak financially as you put it.

The ground needs tolast us perhaps as long as Saltergate so it is a major investment and is this investment enough ????

As I always say, if you can't afford to do the job right, then don't cut corners because you will only end up with a job that will need doing again and it will cost you perhaps more than it would have cost you to do it right in the first place...

On that footing 10000 is not enough unless they expect us to languish in the bottom 2 leagues for the next 100 years plus, maybe we could have 10000 seats from MKDons they won't be needing 30000,will they :P

And that pretty much sums up the fears of the so-called moaners. We acknowledge that better facilities are needed if we are to generate additional income to a) repay the extra debt and then :P to swell the coffers if a) has firstly been taken care of, but we're concerned that corners will be cut which we'll bitterly regret a few years down the line. For a job so crucial, it needs to be done right and I don't believe we're in any position whatsoever to do that right now.

Of course, had we worked tirelessly to bring in monies to improve our starting point, I'd feel much more upbeat, but, with a couple of notable exceptions, few could argue that we've shown a bewildering lack of creativity (and desire) in seeking to improve our lot in recent times, with the new ground seemingly being heralded as the ONLY answer to all our prayers. Believe me, it might not be.

Income streams may be more of a trickle in disappointing facilities limited by cost-cutting and, dare I say it, Victorian attitudes to customers with 21st century demands. It will certainly need a lot of effort, planning and skill to maximise the opportunities it may bring, but first and foremost the facilities it provides need to be appealling in a competitive marketplace and given our perilous starting point, I'm fearful that far from being the answer to all our prayers, it may yet end up being the straw that breaks the camel's back...

I am not greedy i'm not asking for 30000 but something a bit bigger, when you look at how long it has got to last, never in a million years will MKD fill that ground except maybe in the F A Cup.
A bit bigger than 10000 not 30000 lol...

But what if they stumbled into Div2 ?

Not beyond the realms of fantasyland to at least be getting 20,000+ regularly in that division is it?
