I see Salford FC has been taken over by a new consortium headed by Gary Neville and David Beckham, supported by heavyweight US investors— yet another bloody vanity project. Neville might be a Manc but he was born in Bury and Beckham is a Cockney so the locals tag doesn't fly. In addition to the current 10 Premiership clubs and 6 Championship sides with US owners, there's everyone's favourite vanity project, Wrexham and soon to have US owners, Colchester. Time to get involved in Trump's tariff wars and stick a 100% markup on American ownership!

Whatever happens Salford will have a ceiling on their attendance. Bury are on the way back slowly and pulled in 8,000 for their final game of the season. I hope to see them swapping places at some point in the future. It should be Salford playing the likes of Leek Town, not Bury.

There’s decent clubs like Darlington, Scarborough, Hereford, Halifax, Torquay etc who could do with this kind of investment and they invest in a joke outfit who struggle to amass 2,000 fans even in big games.

Why would Manchester based Gary Neville & his consortium invest in those teams?

I think GB was referring to American investors in general, not the Neville's.

The Americans will have been brought in by Beckham so it’s no real surprise really.

Read today that Ryan Reynolds and co had a shortlist of Hartlepool, Carlise, Rochdale, Aldershot and Wrexham before going for the latter

I'm sure Hartlepool turned down the takeover, tho at the time the investors hadn't been revealed..

Neville is from bury, a town with a club with a proud and successful history - former FA cup winners. Why they bought a non league club, changed the kit to a Man U copy instead of saving their home town club?

Clearly doesn’t care about his home town or it’s team and it’s just an ego trip - a desire to carry on the Man Utd journey.

Without the jeopardy of having to prove themselves in a post playing career as a coach or manager.

Pure egos from the class of 92 nothing else

It’s a desire to continue to be involved with Man Utd and football without having to prove themselves as coaches or managers.

It’s a pure ego trip for the class of 92. That’s why they changed the kit from orange to man United colours

Should have saved Bury

Tbf Neville tried to prove himself as manager with Valencia but soon found out that Salford was probably a better bet!

We can all work out now why poor old Robinson was unable to get a request for an overnight hotel in Carlisle sanctioned.
