I'm currently watching the Sunderland documentary its really good. Double relegation, toxic support against the owners and numerous managerial changes including 3 in one season. Last year they paid out over 30 million in players wages, however the most shocking fact was that they paid out over 12 million in non playing wages. The owner wasn't interested and refuse to invest any more for 2 seasons and cost them back to back relegation. They got new owners after that and the cost cutting figures were amazing, it was unbelievable how the Club wasted so much money.

It's a great watch, watched all of series 2 over the weekend, includes an impulsive owner ignoring the managers advice in paying way over the odds for a transfer target who subsequently failed to deliver

Their kit man John Cooke used to play for us.

The volley I'm pretty sure was against Bolton in the fa cup 1990/91. I think Tony Reid is the one your thinking about , volley at the Kop end to beat Wigan 4-3 after we were 3-1 down in 1986/87.

I thought it was him.

I watched them all back to back the day it was put out (not much to do working from home half the time).

Spot on. You’d think someone who’s been successful would have appointed such a person, after A.W. left

I had my differences with the 'Old Guard'.

But no one could accuse them of what their replacements are all too often accused of.

Yes we needed the ambition and investment they couldn't deliver.

However the more I think about it the more our issues seemed to start after he left/quit/was forced out amidst smears.

In fact the suspicious might suggest that someone, somewhere, wanted him and others out to promote their own agenda...

Wasnt his volley the one that made the FA Cup credits reel on Match of the Day back then?

For all these years. If you had asked me who scored it a hundred times, a hundred times I would've answered Jamie Hewitt.

It’ll be a brave council that lends money to the trust after this is done and dusted

I’ll be amazed if any council has any money after this even to cover the basics

I wonder oif DA will change his urgency to 'sell' now he doesn't need to plough £200k a month in?

Well he's proven nowt if not mercurial, 'SS'.

One day it's money in, the next it's players out. One day it's him in, the next it's him out. In-out, in-out, do the 'Hokey-cokey' and shake it all about.

But I wonder if this/last season was a watershed. Crowds were down to a few hundred, and unless he really is gonna put in place the kinda financial controls - perhaps even controller - he's snubbed thus far he's never gonna make ends meet.

And everyone knows there're a considerable number of folk who just won't go whilstever his cronies are around.

I doubt the ten or more million he's already flushed means the difference between steak or bread and dripping for his tea. Just as he doesn't seem to give a flying fornication about the Club's reputation. That said I'm convinced CFC has become an inconvenience he'd still rather do without...

At which game were the crowds down to a few hundred?

Yes, we all know it wasn't the case, but I thought just for once I'd challenge the sort of misinformation you seem to think you can get away with on an increasingly regular basis.
