Reported hate crimes now surpass the number of other crimes reported....in the space of a week. 2000 odd coming after the Auld Firm derby. Police completely overwhelmed, with Humza stating every reported hate crime will be investigated.

Absolutely ridiculous law, giving left wing bigots free range to continue to take the moral high ground and report anyone who doesn’t agree with their agenda. Thankfully JKR can stand up to it for women’s rights and has the financial might to do so and to say she’ll take the side of anyone less able to fight their corner. It’s nothing but an SNP **** up. How must those victims of muggings, assaults, burglaries, attacks, shoplifting etc feel when they barely get a crime number up there yet any report of “hate speech” has to be investigated regardless of the evidence. We’re already seeing ridiculous levels of “hate speech” reporting.
The sad part of all this left wing bigots race to criminalise those who don’t agree with them is that people who are genuinely affected and abused by real hate speech just get swallowed up in all the mass numbers and lost in the mess. At least the Irish could vote on a similar bill in Ireland and it sent Varadka packing, it’ll certainly help Labour North of the border and in some perverse way, Labour lefties will coo about the law, yet willingly lap up the votes of those who vehemently disagree with it.
Will Labour, when they become the biggest party in Scotland, have the balls to stand up to the bigots, and over turn it?
Of course they won’t, because as we all know, left wing bigotry is the ok form of bigotry!

Out of over 7000 “hate crimes” reported in the first week of the controversial new Scottish law only 3.3% were deemed actual “hate crimes”, looks like the left wing knickers in a twist bigot bunch were reporting away like Tasmanian devils. Oh and the vast number or reports were anonymous. What a fantastic use of police time while muggings, robberies, assaults and shop lifting go un investigated.
I can only imagine the numbers if a similar law was ever brought in in England.

The link to the initial video sums it up perfectly, have u watched it and seen how ridiculous the law is and easy to abuse? Thankfully I’ll side with JKR and Sharon Davies and not the 97% of bigots who made spurious reports that weren't deemed “hate speech”.

He badly needs the support of the one Alba MSP, Ash Regan, to maybe survive, a person who he said was “no great loss to the SNP”.
Ms Regan is apparently demanding he move away from identity politics and accept the findings of the Cass gender treatment review and invest properly in public services.

The 97% of bigots were - as it turns out - largely opponents of the law, deliberately making daft accusations in order to waste police time and make the whole thing unworkable. The rate of reports had fallen by 74% by the second week of April.

It's not about name calling; the law might need a bit of tinkering but it's actually a good, sensible one designed to protect innocent people from bullies. "Freedom of speech" is no more a human right than "freedom of action". If A breaks in and sets B's house on fire out of hatred then that's illegal, but the culture warriors of the right think it should be entirely legal to encourage A to do so, or to create an environment in which A thinks his/her action is justified.

As usual, the whole thing has turned into a trans/anti-trans argument, as if this is the only subject worth debating. I see no reason why both sides shouldn't just stop insulting and threatening each other & learn to live together in peace.

I also see no reason why people living outside Scotland can't manage to mind their own business. The SNP/Green alliance (RIP) was democratically elected by Scottish voters - including me - and isn't able to make laws that affect the whole of the UK. What happens at Holyrood has no impact on the people of Chesterfield at all. Carry on trolling, if that's your bag; it's perfectly legal in Derbyshire.

Regarding your last paragraph, I skipped though the other parts, the vast majority of posts by people in this section, whether Left political view or a Right political view are opinions on subjects that has very little effect on folks day to day lives but we can still voice an opinion on it, or would you like that banning as well. And as for trolling and not “minding your own buisness” I could argue that’s what you’ve just done!
