Haven?t the Blunts published their full retained list yet?

Freckleton certainly doesn?t lack pace. He has it in abundance. Possibly because of his age he lacks physicality and from time to time struggles to find a teammate with his passing. Comparing him to Maguire isn?t the answer either because Loz has never had the same pace and, strangely, at the age of 20 lacked experience too.

So, coming back to his age. It is a big advantage as because of it Freckleton would not count as one of our 22 outfield players as he is under 21. Personally, if Grimes is going to be our captain next season that suggests he?s going to play if fit. As such, Freckleton would be a useful addition as he can also cover the LB position and is another young player we can improve.

At RB, though, I think we need a more experienced player to be the more regular starter.

Completely agree. Freckleton is quick and skilful, and is capable of operating very well in a back four. I think, once he has eliminated his tendency to 'switch off' at times, he will become a very good left-sided CB or LB. At his age, he is a sensible addition to the squad.

You think Quigley springs in to action only within 12 yards of the goal?
The competition until anybody else comes through the door would be between Madden and Quigley to lead the line, not Madden and Grigg.

You appear to have misread or completely misunderstood my post, as your reply bears no relation to anything I've said. To attempt to clarify - we have two CFs i.e. Quigley and Grigg, whereas Madden is an attacking midfielder like Dobra, Mandeville, Colclough and Berry.

    So do I.
With the best will in the world, I can't see Quigley ever getting the nod over Madden to replace Grigg if they are both on the bench. Happy days.

I don't see why Madden would ever replace Grigg, as they are not exactly interchangeable. Grigg is an out and out CF who springs into action within 12 yards of the opposition goal, whereas Madden finds spaces (or 'pockets' as he calls them in his interview) outside the box. I see Madden as operating in a similar way to Mandeville, Dobra, Berry or Colclough. That leaves Quigley as the one to step in for Grigg when required.

I think people are being harsh on Quigley. He did more than enough last season to be given a chance this time round as a different forward option. I wouldn't want him as first choice striker but hes proved he can come on and be effective/score goals as a sub.

Exactly my thoughts; Quigley proved his worth over and over again last season by getting winning goals late on. He probably got around 9 extra points for us by coming on late and turning draws into wins. Cookie will IMO, keep him for precisely the same role in L2.

Probably the same folk that didnt rate Mark Allott....they were crap because they didnt run round all over the place diving into tackles.

You're on the same wavelength as me with that one - MA and Nivo complemented each other perfectly, as did Ryan and Morsy at a later date.
