Just driven by the ground and the new floodlights look very futuristic.

Anyone know the story behind the changes, tv deals maybe ?
God I hate this league.

Sure one of the Kirk?s said in a post season interview they were being done. Presumably more efficient etc as the lights used seem to have come on leaps and bounds since they were installed as part of the new ground back in 2010.

See a lot of them now used as part of pre game build up like at Chelsea when we played there.

I presume its something to do with the law change for business lighting, where all bulbs have to be low energy/heat by the of 2025 I think, the company I work for has been busy changing all the bulbs in and outside of the factory...
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

Maybe a stipulation by the FL that the lights have to be a certain Lux ( measurement of light) and ours didn't meet the criteria or maybe we just felt like upgrading them.

Have we just upgraded the bulbs or are they complete new floodlights?

Pretty sure the originals were up to spec bearing in mind we?ve hosted various midweek England age group games.

Just new bulbs, pylons still the same.

New light fittings, not just bulbs but retained the pylons.

Still think we missed an absolute trick by not having crooked spire shaped floodlights
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Apparently, when we score, they can be switched to rotating strobe lighting with filters for a 'Saturday night Fever' effect.

Far from that Jon, they look to be in clusters of 6 with new backing panels.

What time did we kick off in the pre lights games at Saltergate. Was it 2pm? I remember there were games where it was getting dark near the end.

Think 2pm mainly. There was only ten minutes half time and negligible injury time so that helped.

Didn't we get our first lights secondhand from Sheffield United on the understanding that they were free if we shifted them.

Yes, they were eventually moved to the pitch in Eckington, as kids we could play at the side of the pitch in the evening under lights while Northern Intermediate side was training

I think we already had lights at Eckington at the time. I remember someone saying it was strange that the training ground was equipped with lights but Saltergate wasn't. The lights were bought from Sheffield Utd and cost ?10,000, There was an appeal to fund them and boxes for donations at the gound. They lay there, behind the kop, for months rusting away. When eventually construction began, the pylons began to twist and were deemed dangerous so new ones were bought.

I recall the Stoke game at home in the League Cup kicked off at 4.45. I bunked off school.
