Pretty much. He'd have signed if we'd come up with the readies.

I'm actually more depressed and seeing him clutch that Blunts shirt than I am about town missing out on his signature.

I didn't realise (if true) that he was actually sat there pen in hand ready to sign for us when DA pulled the deal.

Also, watch him score a goal that's significant to us at the last game of the season :(

But might explain why Cookie was so, so angry at the lack of money for a striker, making us look stupid etc ...

just heard his interview on Radio Sheffield

what he said, along the lines of "this is the right move for me and my family and I turned down loads of clubs"

what he meant "nobody could pay me what I wanted but Sheff U could, so here I am"

spot on ;)

That's exactly what I had heard and that's the only reason the whole ordeal has frustrated me so much.

In hindsight, if cooper does leave for a million, maybe not signing him would have been a mistake.

But without a time machine or mystic meg, how was we to know?
Here we go again!

This thread will never die. We'll spend the season:

a) Complaining about all the goals he's scoring for Sheff Utd and how we should have ponied up the cash
b) Laughing as he gets banged up for decking someone in one of Sheffield's many fine pubs and thanking deity we didn't
