Thinking of buying a Focus and seriously looking at the 1.0 125 pa eco boost engine which actually has quicker acceleration than the 1.6, a higher top speed than the 1.6 and far better fuel economy than the 1.6, it also has one of those stop/start engines also this function can be turned off, it also has zero road tax although the insurance band is 3 bands higher due to it being a turbo engine, it's also £1000 more expensive..going for a test drive later. Anyone on here got any info or feedback on this type of engine ?

Not on the engine but I do have the Eco stop/start feature and given it's more economically friendly and can save you money on fuel bills I'm not sure why anyone would disable it.

There are certain conditions though when the stop/start will not operate. On mine it won't operate until the engine warms up, below 3c, when the heated rear window is on, when the air con is on. Basically they won't work if there is a heavy load on the battery. Mine only stays on for a max of 3 mins or until the battery is down to 80% of full load. Yes stop start is good but it does have short comings

It's not so much the stop/start that I was enquiring about but how can a 1.0 litre be more powerful, quicker and yet more economical than a 1.6? The test drive was excellent its so responsive and smooth..I think I'm sold on it!

This seasons formula 1 cars all have a 1.6L engine.

Economy and performance are more about how the power is produced, and how it's used rather than the amount.

Daughter had a fiesta hire car with same engine, she said it was great, good power and great economy. Much better buy than the 1.6 but haggle hard as focus is a great car let down by residuals, deserves better!
