Play the same'ish team with youngsters backed up by first team squad members needing game time. If we get knocked out so be it, if we don't it means the young lads are doing well.

I would expect the same or similar team to lose. I have watched Welling highlights v Yeovil and I don't think we would win with 6 youngsters in the side. Credit to them if we did, but a plus for me if we go out - they get a game and it's back to the important stuff.
The League is ours to lose - I will remain anxious until the fat lady is in full voice.

Chuck it in for me. A home draw would have helped otherwise no point.

Welling have won 4 league games all season and are currently in the relegation zone…don’t see why we can’t win with a similar line up. By all accounts Southport tried to rough the kids up and it didn’t work.

That’s a bit negative, this is Welling we’re talking about, team that tanked Southport could put up a decent show.
Let me in!

Agree,JonB , let's do as well as we can without risking injuries and fixture congestion, so keep a similar squad and see just how good they are , may even give the management more selection decisions. Be superb to have 3 good players for each position

Play the same team as Saturday at Welling. Shame it wasn’t a home draw, annoying that the bigger clubs in our league all ended up with winnable home ties against lower division clubs.

Crumbs of comfort are that Barnet and Bromley got winnable games so they will probably get through and have similar fixture pile ups like us.

Financially we’ve already lost 3 Saturday home games (Gateshead, Altrincham and Dagenham) to be replaced with Tuesday nights which attract lower crowds , less people on the booze, less in hospitality etc etc so could we say it would be a shame to lose another?

Prize money and gate receipts from this are minimal, so I’m still very much in the “don’t need to be in this trophy” camp.

Might be an unpopular opinion

Hi Tom, Dagenham is an away Saturday lost but, looking forward, reaching the semi-final would mean the Gateshead away game being rearranged when a lot of people have already made plans for the weekend, cheers Paul.

Its best part of 2 hours for me and I am where the M1 meets the M25! might be slightly quicker by car but who wants to drive in that area...

I've been to Welling a couple of times and parking is an absolute nightmare! No carparks, just residential street parking.

You can make what you like of statistics - Welling's last 10 - W2 D5 L3 - they don't lose many and one of the wins was 4-1 against League leaders Yeovil. Don't know where you got the idea that Southport tried to rough the kids up - hardly a bad tackle in the game. The chances of winning or losing aren't my argument anyway - it is the possible consequences of losing three further Saturday fixtures. Play young lads and fringe players and we will lose I think - job done in my opinion -everyone is a winner.

Yep, same team again, Hopefully give the lads a chance of the limelight and protect most of the first team in the process. As you say win win whatever happens

The break won't be a bad thing for the 1st team. 12 games I think we have from now until end of jan.
Here we go again!

I went to Welling v Ilkeston in the early 2000s. The only thing I can remember about the place was that at one end the grass sloped steeply up beyond the touchline before the advertising boards.

Tickets for the Welling game are on sale via the Welling website (50% more expensive than for Watford!)

(Apologies if anyone has already posted).
