Not looking good for Macclesfield. Now been served with a “zero capacity notice” for tomorrow’s game based on safety grounds and told by EFL they face serious consequences if the game doesn’t go ahead.

A very sad state of affairs but I think the EFL are taking the right stance against an obviously dodgy owner, terrible for the fans though

There's been a tangible stance shift at the top.

Where once the thought of a club going t*ts-up was anathema there's now a 'What will be will be' attitude. A Darwinistic approach, if you will.

Bury have gone, Macc could be next, and we can only wonder how many more outfits will die at the hands of crass and callous characters...

You have more confidence in the EFL than I do.

Too many times have clubs suffered at the hands of corrupt and bad owners for it to be a coincidence.

How do the EFL define a dodgy owner as I am far from convinced that one size fits all?

I take your point but in this case they can't get out of not doing something

Have you seen what Macclesfield majority shareholder/owner posted on their website yesterday? As far as he is concerned the game is going ahead??

They should go after the owners, the same owners who passed the FA's Fit & Proper tests, not punish clubs and their supporters.

Yes, enough to show he's not fit or proper

I agree, they never should be allowed to gain control of a club in the first place but were there any warning signs with this geezer ?

The fit and proper test is never going to pick out a lot of bad ones. Any wealthy businessman with a clean record who passes all tests and takes over a football club for profit or amusement is going to run straight up against something he never had to cope with before - thousands of people abusing him for the first minor setbacks. Some will take it in their stride, some won't and will react as most people do, by fighting back.
All the fit and proper test can do is bar the really bad hats, and it doesn't even seem to do that very well. What it really needs to do is pick out the thin-skinned ones and advise them to steer clear.
