Perhaps York’s budget is bigger if you include transfer fees and not just wages, but I can’t see any side in this league having a bigger wage budget than a squad which includes Naylor, Grigg, Jacobs etc. I suppose Oldham are including Norwood’s pie budget in their figures, which inflates them significantly.

Has been said on a number of occasions by our management, from information shared by the NL, we don’t have the first or second biggest wages budget. As for York, presumably it costs a lot more to pay for the 40 first teamers they’ve used, than our 24, even after accounting for Grigg, Naylor et al. Also, of course, it maybe we are paying these players less than market value in return for the longer contracts handed out.

Although presumably budgets shared don’t include potential bonuses; and I would imagine this will be sizeable.

I believe it 100%. It was the sheer number on players they brought in and an owner splashing the cash at the start of the season. Some quite high profile players as well.

I believe they have had 40 starters this season :o

Aye, fair enough. Shows how well-managed we have been in relation to York and Oldham.
These go to eleven.

From reading 'Tooley's Take' it seems PC DOES think this to be his biggest achievement. :D

I dunno.

Maybe it's because I'm getting longer of tooth, maybe it's because of how low we fell or maybe it's because those responsible forced me - and thousands of others - temporarily away from team we love.

But somehow this promotion seems to mean more than others.

And those Staglets who told us how difficult getting out the fifth tier is - only for many of us to mistakenly mock - were right. The one guaranteed place means a consistency unnecessary in any other division.

Yet they couldn't keep a good club down. We've progressed year on year since the deep, dark Deedah depression was lifted. Play off quarters, semis then final. Before now, wonderfully, totally dominating fron start to finish.

Okay, sneerers can claim their titles came tougher. However these last few weeks have proven pretty much anyone can provide a kick in the proverbials if standards slip. The league's also populated by fully professional outfits now. Well, give or take, anyway.

Besides, you can only beat what's in front of you. Which is what we've done. Thirty times and counting. Without the millions afforded previous winners, either.

So PC's possibly right; this is his greatest achievement. There's one thing of which there's no doubt whatsoever, though - the relationship between him, squad and townsfolk will never, ever have been better...

How much more satisfying is it,going up as 'juggernaut' champions rather than from the lottery playoffs.I know we would all have taken it last year, but surely the extra season, unfolding as it has,has more than compensated?

Well reported we've only used 24 players- interesting how few starts many of our players have had. In my 60+ years of watching, I've never seen a team below the top level be able to mix and match squad players so successfully.

Paul Cook's decision to come back to our club must have had 99.9% of football wondering what the hell he was doing. Instead of thinking about what damage it might do to the value of his stock and what some of his footballing peers might think, he put our club's needs before his own. I'm not sure many (if any) would have done the same, it takes a special person.

To answer your question, you only have to look at how many former league clubs have failed to get out of this division and how long it's taken others to appreciate the size of the achievement.

For all the Trust's faults, bringing back Paul Cook wasn't one of them, it was a masterstroke.

Is it me (it might well be!!) or am I right in thinking that there's been no in house interview of PC this weekend?
If so, it's a bit disappointing bearing in mind the magnitude of this achievement.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

I'm not sure that until about now he's been in a condition to do one!
