Football League player #611 he did make a further first-team appearance the following season. I will have him added to the Players' Wall in the Memorial Garden.

He had a good photo taken of him and Frank. When asked how he came to have his photo taken with him, he replied: Well, Frank came over and said, 'see, you played once or twice for Chesterfield didn't you? Do you mind if I have my photo taken with you?'

He played twice Alan. He should have made a 3rd appearance against Preston but the Club was unable to get hold of him in the pre mobile days. Very very sad. As you know his brother Alan played for the Juniors as well. Apparently they watched the Liverpool game together on the night before he passed away.
He was a top player and an even better friend.
He scored the odd goal against you at the sports ground as well.

Yes happy memories of the hours we spent at the sports ground
I also recall Pete scored against me for the Derbyshire Times in our Sunday League days
When he made his town debut away to Southend a couple of days before him trying to get me to go to the match
After he said he always wanted to tell me the reason why but was sworn to secrecy about his selection by his father

Heard early today. Shocking news, he had worked extremely hard in his career and was looking forward to a long and happy retirement. RIP Pete.
His dad Harold used to train us at middlecroft years ago RIP Peter

It was a relief to discover he'd been a pro - bloomin' showed, too!
Got to know him through mutual friends and suffice to say Pete Roberts was as good a bloke as he was a player.
