I've just said something similar on twitter in response to the clubs tweet. Not sure in what way the refs are dealt with when poor decisions are over turned but this would be one way of doing something.

I'd love to hear his explanation for the decision. The thing is these referees aren't plucky amateurs any more, doing it for fifty quid and the honour of sharing the pitch with sportsman.

A letter of apology might be appropriate. But I doubt he has the class of the guy at Bristol Rovers (Doyle none pen) who had the decency to write and admit his error

In only his second ever league game, I thought he did very well.
Rarely did you see anything of him, which is usually the sign of a decent performance.
OK, he didn't have many contentious decisions to make, apart from the McCourt booking which was deserved (he could, and probably should have booked him whilst he was warming up as a sub and kicked the ball in to the stands to delay a throw in).

I think the warming up incident didnt ingratiate McCourt to the referee !!

Something i've said about refs\umpires\officials in general with sport that the best ones are the ones you dont notice. Normally means they've had a good game when you get to the end of the match and think you barely noticed the ref.
