Yeah that’s how football works, managers choose players they prefer. We play a back 4 with attacking fullbacks. Loz can’t play as a CB in a 2 and he’s a stay at home left back. He’s effective from set pieces but we’re hardly struggling with those so far this season. So yeah, his face doesn’t fit, or, if you’re not anti-Cook, he’s a squad player on a good wage who doesn’t fit into our preferred system and will be moved on just like any other squad player on a good wage who doesn’t fit into our preferred system.

He can’t do the overlapping Cook wants with his FBs and
is slow ..
Good defender and scores now and then but just isn’t what Cook wants

I'm hazarding a guess his brother will go on loan to west ham as well shortly,hope he does well as he has been here since 15 but like others I don't see how he fits into what we need

The only season he’s really been a regular was when Rowe was here and we played at the left of a back 3, which is probs his best position. We don’t play like that any more and so if it means we can get a replacement who’s better in a 2 then it’s a no brainier for all concerned.

Good luck to him anyhow, can’t fault his effort and attitude.

Sorry to see him go. He came in at left back and brought stability when we needed it. He was a very good squad member and was not afraid to show his emotions for the club. I recall how he confidently put that penalty away at Wembley. Not surprised we've got a fee for him. I wish him well.

With Naylor and Jones you can play with overlapping full backs

You get done if you try that with Banks though, you then need one of your full backs to stay back and form a 3

Maguire may not be the fastest but that depends who he is being compared to. Very few CBs can keep up with Colclough, for instance, in a straight race but I'd hazard a guess that Loz could out run Palmer for instance.

Whatever, if this is happening, good luck to the lad. He's been a good servant.
