We're through to the knock-out stages without playing tonight, as Croatia are officially out and Hungary have played all their group games and can only get the 3 points they've got we're guaranteed a 3rd place with the 4 points we've already got.

And there will still be wallys on here telling us they could do better than Southgate- unbelievable but absolutely true.

no problem hilly 81 its just the players coming out with the soundbites yesterday that we are still top of the group after a performance like that made me smile but angry as well

they of course have to be seen to be singing from the same hymn sheet lol

In case you hadn't noticed, England ARE top of the group, two points clear.

The Turkey v Georgia game was a brilliant, entertaining and exciting spectacle, greatly helped by the fact that there was minimal VAR intervention to interfere with the flow and pace of the whole match. Just goes to show that good refereeing is far better than unnecessary and obtrusive technology.

The ball brushed his hand, apparently without any intent on his part, and with no influence on its trajectory - the sort of thing that might happen 50 times in any game of football. If we're going down that road in addition to VAR the game will become unwatchable. No referee in his right mind would have disallowed the goal on the evidence of his own view and experience.

Precisely; IMO nobody who has any feel for the intensity, pace and spirit of the game could possibly tolerate this VAR idiocy.

Was 100 percent a hand ball. The strike on his hand out him into an advantageous position. No VAR drama when the right decisions made from my perspective

Utter nonsense; the forward is running at full speed, trying to hold off a defender who's barging into him, and the ball brushes his hand. What's he supposed to do, run with his arms clamped to his sides? As I've already said many times, the complete idiocy of VAR will destroy the game; who in their right mind would want to pay to go and watch games where excellent goals are continually disallowed for pathetic trivialities? I wouldn't pay anything to watch a match involving VAR, and I believe that many more people will come round to that way of thinking.
