Would be very disappointed if this was true.

May be way off the mark here but perhaps banks could at times be tried as the one up top, and this guy is then another option to play behind, cheaper option maybe than trying to sign a striker? Purely speculating but thats what pre season is all about

Messing about, not signing a proven replacement for Davo cost us our Div. 1 status, we can't afford to make the same mistake again. We need at least one good forward, proven at this level, it will cost money, so some fans need to forget the rubbish about players coming here on the cheap.
Reading / listening to DA's & PC's comments regarding strikers, there appears to be some difference of opinion as to what is required.

I agree that we've got a few players battling for that position but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Not heard about this attitude problem though so can't comment but that could be an issue.

I've just read through seven pages of the Gas Forum and it's not that they didn't rate his ability. It seems to be an attitude problem they didn't like, he was on record saying he was too good for the club and players etc. And the fans thought he was lazy.

The injuries to Lee and Lester were far more prominent in our demise that season than not replacing Davies. We do need a striker. Everyone knows that. As to whether he will be proven at this level is doubtful in my view. Everyone else in the division needs this sort of player but the reality is there aren't many of them out there and there are many clubs with bigger resources than us that will bag them.
Two questions. Where is the money coming from? Who is available and likely to be affordable? Oh, I'll add a third. Would you say Banks and Gardner were brought in 'on the cheap' then?

I reckon DA has a very 'black and white' attitude to the game and perhaps doesn't quite get some tactical subtleties.
He signs a supposed twenty goal a season striker yet that striker doesn't produce? It's the player's fault regardless of any other considerations. Cook targets frontmen who can lead a four-two-three-one formation? DA wants a proven hitman instead, even though his goals might've come from a four-four-two system.
I applaud Dave Allen's commitment to entertainment, however he appointed a (now title winning) manager to play his preferred style so should now endorse it.
