Probably not - you seem to glorify someone who got hammered and needlessly neat people up? Why so?
Pete Ellis aka Gesler spent time helping out at the local youth club and was a decent bloke. At that time in history football violence, skinheads et al was the norm.
He was just the main guy among Chesterfields more violent element who were in the thick of it, and as his reputation spread he became a target. Cant judge him on todays morals, also he's not here to defend himself.

move on.

He’d be well into his 70s and probably happy to leave it all in the distant past

As I posted on this board a while ago I grew up in the same village and lived near Pete and once as a young lad had a sparring session in a boxing ring with him (not through choice I might add lol). He was as gentle as a lamb with me that day yet he encouraged me to punch him as hard as I could. Pete had the reputation all right but if anyone had taken the trouble to really get to know him and I mean really get to know him he was a pleasure to know. He was as kind, loyal and good hearted a bloke as you could ever wish to meet. A lot of people didn't take the time to get to know him for what he really was and that is such a shame. At the end of the day it was their loss.
RIP Pete.

Laughable really ... turning up and giving it large ... when they know that none of our lads would be present at yesterdays game. Anyone can do that.

Who are ‘our lads’ and why wouldn’t they have been present yesterday?
These go to eleven.

I bet that’s smarting a tad now the beer has worn off.

Pity it wasn’t Halloween, he could have gone straight out on the lash without the need to get his fancy dress and fake blood on

I reckon he was trying to cause trouble inside the ground aswell. Somebody was trying to get past the stewards and try to climb over the seat covering late in the 2nd half, the police went up to have a word. Moments later they walked out.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.
