Ok, for the last 3 matches we've got Grigg injured and nobody remotely able to replace him like for like. The best way to proceed is to switch formation to a front 2 of Quigley and Curtis or Hobson playing in their most effective positions.

Next season we need a striker like Grigg to provide competition and cover for injury but allow us to keep the same formation if it's doing well; and another pair who are effective as a front 2 as plan B.

It's cruel watching Quigley try to play the Grigg role. Let's be seen to be doing summat constructive for the rest of the season.

At 30 he has another couple of decent moves left.
He likes being located down south tho - think
that's why he didn't move to us and opted for Eastleigh.
I could see a L2 club based in the London area snapping him up

He didn't move to us because Grigg was always Cook's first choice.

He’s been prolific for years so you’d expect a move before now.

Maybe we can sign Benson & Hedges as squad players as well.

I'm still convinced he much prefers southern based teams and that his options are limited.
His only real stints up north were with us and Solihull (6 games at Hearts if you want to count that too)

McCallum's record at Conference level speaks for itself but oddly, he never seemed particularly great as a player, or to fit our system. Fair play to him for his goals but I don't think he'd be the answer for us in League Two.

He has scored the most goals having had the season of his life. That doesn't make him the best striker. When you consider all round play Grigg is miles ahead of him....which is why Grigg has played most of his career at a higher level whilst McCallum has spent his in the national league!

Having seen plenty of both of them I know who I would sooner be leading our front line!

If Cook wanted him he would have signed him. He didn’t, he wanted Grigg and a great move for us it was. Quality player.

and what a choice he proved to be, if we are to bring someone in i think we'll look at someone with pace rather than a maccallum type.

Oh good God yes, pace up top is a must - but doesn't always work out ( Gyasi from Dover). So, maybe a proven pacey striker might be the best bet to come in rather than a prospect

of course he is the best striker in the league this season,he has scored 30 in a side vastly inferior to ours,he has scored against teams in a higher division and he has scored goals from all areas of the frontline, you are only as good as your last season.

Straight question if you really think he's the best striker in the league would you swap him for Grigg?

Paul Leon Miller Macallum - think you should look at his previous clubs.
God I hate this league.

Perhaps he thought you were suggesting that this season is the first time he has scored loads and loads. I'm sure he wasn't comparing his career against Grigg's, or perhaps he was, it is Dave after all.

I am surprised his scoring efforts over recent years hasn't attracted attention from a league clubs but at 30 I guess that ship has sailed or is about to.

.....and, all of a sudden, Akinyemi looks like a world beater. A player with a journeyman past but now seems to have cottoned on how the game should be played. Looked very, very good against Halifax on a ploughed field. 26 years old.

Back on to the topic, do you think we should experiment with 4-4-2 for the last 3 games?

Journeyman or not, but his recent history is Scottish Championship player of the season and a cost to York City reported to be in excess of £250,000. Won’t be on our radar.

No, what is the point of doing that without the personnel and going for a system the manager would never play in normal circumstances anyway.
