so as we reach the mid point of the league season here's how it reads;

played 23, won 5, drawn 8, lost 10, scored 31, conceded 43, 23 points, in the bottom 4, 2 points from safety, 14 behind 7th place, 21 points behind the league leaders. must have used 25 players at least. can anyone see us improving enough in the second half of the season enough to avoid relegation?

It’s a tight division this season, and I reckon 50-51 might be needed to survive. Need 10 wins from the remaining games which probably is doable, but big problem is lack of decent results at home (awful form) and we seem to have to play most of the better sides away, Barrow, Solihull, Notts County.

Can’t see us personally surviving as I can’t see any of the sides above us being worse.

Is there an easy way of looking how many changes in starting 11 have been made across those games? I'm gonna guess at 80ish and if bored enough have a look.

Not just the teams above us though is it - Chorley played us to death and will definitely finish out of the bottom four on current form.

We are down I reckon.

At the moment. for the 2nd half of the season, we are not good enough to beat the majority of teams above us and the teams below us with the exception of Wrexham are better than us. So it doesn't look good at all. In fact its extremely worrying. Sheridan and the team don't enthuse anyone with any kind of confidence that we can stay up and get out of this mess. If we need to win 10 of the last 23 games to stay safe - we have only won 5 of the first 23 games. On that argument its an impossible uphill struggle.

Not really but I guess 3.8 to 4.2 per league game

Might work it out tomorrow

Getting the right new owners will be pivotal as to if we stop up or not, the club is fractured at the moment and only fit and proper owners who care for the club and its fans will heal it.

Gordon brittas, we have won 5 of our 1st 23, whatever makes you think that the 10 wins we need from the next 23 is doable, I can't see where our next win is coming, and even though I have a season ticket, I won't be seeing if a win does come, unless we have a major change at the club.
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

Too big to go down (again)?

If you’ve been stuck in your armchair too long, time to get out and watch them and just see how bad “Sheridan’s barmy army” is and then come back to us

Agree. The club can’t be sustainable now never mind dropping into the national league north. Overheard after Overhead as been cut this season. If we are relegated again then it will be difficult to see the club survive. What a shame....

If, then those with the money, the desire and the vision to see that a football club of some standing continues to represent Chesterfield then they should throw their lot in with Staveley as the starting point for progression on a sustainable basis.
It would be a long way back. CFC Staveley. Any other ideas anybody ?

goals conceded 43 in 23, on average we need to find 3 goals to win a game, have we scored 3 in one game yet this season? can't recall that we have

Jb, you are correct, my memory is worse than I thought, (or it might be that I actually have no interest anymore so choose to forget), we did though win 3-1 at flyde.

League games only, 66 changes from the previous game so far (i.e. 22 league games) - not as many as I thought though!

Interestingly he has made 11 changes to the team that had won previously (in 4 games) and kept the same team once.

He has kept an unchanged on 3 occasions in total

Who was that manager they called the tinker-man?

its not just the changes to the starting line up though, its the changes in formation/positions, too.

I bet half the squad have started or finished games in at least 2 maybe 3 different positions.

Edit: Ranieri

Although, wasn't it once said that Fergie only once picked an unchanged side for consecutive leagues games in his whole time at United?
