Just watching the England v New Zealand game and an all black player has been booked and sent to the sin bin for a kick out..not one single player harangued, hassled, or disagreed with the ref at all..why oh why can't refs deal with footballers in the same way..the rules are there for them to do it but they either don't get the backing or haven't got the minerals.

In the Manchester derby last weekend Joe Hart ran straight out of his goal to the ref after a decision and went head to head with the referee. I would have loved to see him get sent off for that. Showed a complete lack of respect for the officials and shouldn't have been tolerated.

Rugby players are much more sporting than Footballers and accept decisions right or wrong professionally. when Players stop rolling around diving pretending to be hurt etc and behave sportingly then the same principal will apply
Can't salute yer can't find a flag if that don't suit yer that's a drag

Players get in the Ref's face screaming foul-mouthed abuse? Use the yellow and red cards available.

Players indulge in grappling before corners and set pieces? Use the yellow and red cards available, giving penalties too.

Players consistently abuse the rules? Use the yellow and red cards available whilst awarding free kinks wherever applicable.

On the other hand every Ref. should be prepared to review and apologise for mistakes they make.

Simple stuff, but we all know officials either cannot or will not apply it.

I hate footballer who feign injury and was embarrassed watching Jones flapping about like a salmon in the Sheff Utd match. Why then IYO do rugby players give the refs total respect and footballers treat them with utter contempt. Which is what this thread is about

Rugby laws are more black & white, tradition is rife in rugby eticate (?).
When an offence is committed in rugby it gets pulled up on so much more easier because it's easier to spot, because rugby traditionally has drilled in respect for the refs (along with punch them on the pitch but shake hands coming off it) nothing gets argued.
What the modern day footballer does is try to cheat his way into gaining an advantage and because the laws are grey the refs decisions are always his interpretation of the law. I don't particularly like rugby unless it's England playing in the World Cup (yeah. I take any glory I can nowadays) but anybody who is level headed has got to admit that it's easier to spot a foul in a sport that encourages physical tackling than a sport that has so many laws and interpretations of them the ref has got to be caught in two minds every time a ball is kicked.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Thing is though goku, rugby players AND the supporters are much better behaved than that of footballers, even though it is a much more hands on physical sport....the fans are often not segregated and the players have to accept the refs decision is final and to question is not acceptable, if football did incorporate this it would only improve the game.
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

Just to put you in the picture, I have never liked rugby

Are they wimps compared to rugby players?
Are they overpaid?
Are they disrespectful to the refs?
Are the players in the top flight primma donnas?
Do they cheat to gain and advantage?

A simple yes or no to these questions will suffice. Not too hard even for you

Pompous w⚓

You may as well say how well behaved hockey players are, or badminton players, or 3 day eventers, or lacrosse teams, or netball players etc compared to the footballers who disgust you so much.

This one shouldn't be to difficult then. Why do none playing players spend so much time trying to bu88er up their hamstrings by ridding a static bike at the pitch side

Was tried in Europe by Juventus (I think without checking) but their occurrences of hamstring injuries increased considerably. So they stopped it. Man City tried it but opted for heated dug out seats instead

You don't have to believe me btw clarevoyant - only offering my opinion on something I like to think I have a (little) bit of knowledge of

Show dissent on the field of play and you get a yellow. Show it again and you're off. Simple really. It's not down to the players to be arguing the toss on the field with the ref. Does the ref ever change his mind because some spoilt brat comes screaming at him?? No, so keep it buttoned and get on with it. Once the game has been abandoned because someone has had four sent off for mouthing off, I'm sure clubs would start taking responsibility for their players. What also gets to me is managers constantly blaming a bad decision by the ref for them losing the game. It's never down to a mistake by one of their highly paid stars, always that bad decision.

I'm going to my second ever Rugby Union game tomorrow. Last one was in Christchurch, New Zealand eleven years ago. I don't know whether I like it or not really but it's a freebie and you can have a beer whilst you watch so I can't lose really.

Think it was this game I saw.

21 February 2003 Waikato Chiefs New Zealand 16 – 29 New Zealand Otago Highlanders Waikato Stadium, Hamilton
Tries: Paul Miller
Cons.: Glen Jackson
Pens.: Glen Jackson (3)

Tries: Aisea Tuilevu
Pens.: Willie Walker (8)

For some reason I've obviously upset you? Is it related to your rant against Muslims on another thread?
