I think they should make the ref have a post match interview! & take responsibility for their actions

Saw it for the first time on MotD2 last night..jesus, how on earth could he get offside from that move! It's beyond reason!

He seemed to get all caught up in the fact that the keeper was out of the picture so got excited about being able to look clever knowing the rule about it having to be two players etc...then forgot the rather fundamental issue about being in the attacking half of the field! At least it didnt have an impact on the game as such as it was basically the last kick of the game. The assistant and ref just all look a bit silly instead!

Good explanation that. Regarding it not having an effect, look how close its going to be for the final 2 champions league places, I know it's unlikely to happen but imagine if Spurs lost out on a place due to one goal!

I would expect some pundit to trot out the line about "things evening themselves up over a season"...

Not correct got a mate who works with a premier league linesman, every single decision is scored right or wrong by independent analysts and they have to explsin every wrong decision, beibg demoted is a realistic threat for major or persistent cock ups

Yes they can get demoted...but why should the rest of us get lumped with those making mistakes higher up. I suspect a lot dont really see this as much of a punishment and would rather see suspensions or something more than just being sent to Plymouth or alike for a day.

That was my thought when I saw it, the keeper being upfield distracted the lino.
Still don't understand why the FA can't just let the officials come out and say something like this, human error sometimes happens

Maybe they do but it it isn't widely seen all we see is a official dropped down to the lower leagues.....

with a loss of income so punitive, although I agree they should advertise it more in fact why not have a league table so everything is transparent

At the very least we should be told why he thought it was offside but they just seem to fade into the distance....you can't really ask for it to be replayed because Spurs could lose but if they had lost because of it then it becomes another matter.....

Totally agree with what you said and this was possibly the Lino's reply but the main thing was he was in his own half and surely the Lino could see that as Vertonghan would not have been up with the Lino.
Plus the Impact would be on the Player or Team with any Goal Bonuses and also Goal difference as it is very close around Spurs position.

Without a replay, do the current laws of the game allowed the 4th official to radio the referee and inform him that he's made a ludicrous mistake?
