I don't care about the St George Cross bit, I'm bothered about the price. Just remember, they're a replica shirt and not the real thing. I wouldn't expect to pay more than thirty quid for any replica shirt and a child's should be less than half that.
It's different for lower league clubs, as they need any influx of cash to stay afloat, but the FA and the England setup is awash with cash.

St George never came to England and never killed a dragon. The cross was created by the royals for the sole purpose of getting the poor people of this land to fight and die for them in their pointless wars of wealth building. Hence the saying die for the cross. The cross means diddly squat, just another con. Just a point in heraldry terms the three cat lying down are leopards, cats rearing up are lions

The cross of England came about to identify English soldiers, fighting in religious wars, like The Crusades for Christianity, not for 'wealth building'.

And for those talking about three lions, you are correct; that's the FA of England's emblem. However, the St George cross is OUR country's national flag; it shouldn't be messed with.

As Bonny has already said; if you think like that, then get rid of the spire and any other emblems linked to to the club...I like animals, so I'm thinking a stag's head would look quite nice. Everybody ok with that?

I was aware of the history thanks, but that's beside the point, which is that the flag of St George has been an English rallying symbol for centuries.

I'm not outraged or anywhere close to being "gammon"

But... I fail to see the point other than to gain publicity, which they've done very successfully

I'm not a fan of changing the colours of the national flag, which is in effect what they've done.
I can't imagine Nike would do the same for the red, white and blue of the stars and stripes on the USA national team kit.

Anyone over 12 years old should not be seen in a football shirt (unless they are playing)

Why? It shows solidarity with the team you support, I'm 48 and wearing my Town shirt right now.

St George was Greek.

His colours have been adopted by several nations.

The red and white cross on our shirts has been interfered with on numerous occasions.

So why has it suddenly become an issue?

Much more imporant is absurd prices being charged for summat that costs pennies to make in some far eastern sweat shop.

Simple answer is don't buy 'em...

I thought he was Turkish?
But yes the real problem is 80 odd quid for a national shirt! Ridiculous and scandalous
