We're talking about a player who could demand in wages more than we could afford.

How do you know we are not in talks with him?  How do you know the club hasn't offered him the best deal it possibly can?

Maybe they haven't, but maybe they have.  Its alright saying gamble and he will push up the gates.. what if he breaks his leg in the first game of the season?  will the crowds still come to see him sat in the stands?

This is what i mean about seeing things from a negative point of view! anyway, we both have different points of view, lets leave it at that, its not as if roy will come on here reading all the posts, "oh looks like SpireiteDan would like that player to come, lets go out and buy him" I try and voice my opinion the best i can but being realistic, the club dont really care what the fans think, they pay a manager for that excact reason.

OK tell me,

What would you do and how would you do it, where would the money come from?

Here's your chance to convert me from a negative into a positive.

What can i possibly say that you havent already read? maybe i was being naive, but i never said lets change our wage package to suit one certain player, i was trying to say lets try and get a deal which doesnt break our wage cap, even if it miles off what wednesday are offering him, then at least we gave him a alternative.

So you are saying we have offered him nothing?

Thats probably the case, unless you know otherwise? Anyway im not aiming to turn this into any sort of arguement so maybe its best if we leave it there.

What? Jonesy openly admitting he's negative? Have you swapped the rose-tinted for some seasonal Ray-Ban's or something?

Surely more chance of a slim-line Muggs reporting back for pre-season.

Its a debate mate, not an argument. If what you say is correct then you have every right to be peeved off.

The point I am trying to make is that you publically blame the board for not throwing caution to the wind and signing Clingan.

I personally believe that if he is available then we will have approached him, although I have no concrete evidence to support that theory so until something is made public I will put on my rose tinted glasses (after I have cleaned them a bit)

People seem to be forgetting that we still have large debts and only so much cash we can spend- where do we get the rest from? The back of the boardroom sofa?

And if we sign one player on three times the wage of the rest of the squad, or splash out on a transfer fee, where are other signings going to come from? And does anybody actually believe that Sammy Clingan is going to get stampedes of rampant fans trying to burst through the turnstiles?

Considering how close this club was to going out of business a few years ago it baffles me how people would put us in a similar position again by spending money we don't have.

Well at least it'll end all the sammy talk!

He was a good player but if he does go to wednesday who are in a higher league with a bigger stadium and fan base as well as being able to get more money! Can you blame him?

Who wouldn't join a club in the highest league possible (Larkin just has) and remember footballers may only get one shot at high league footy, would you want him to pass on his one chance?

Everyone thinks they know best, we are all as bad as each other when it comes to managing CFC. Dont worry about it.
