If we don't improve the difference and go with what we've got more will be straight back down. It's ok trying to outscore every team but next season the opposition defences will be better meaning we will score less yes the attackers will be streets ahead of what we are facing now. Cook needs to do a total rebuild in the summer.

How can he? He’s given three quarters of them new contracts for next year, including Sheckleford, Horton, Grimes and Williams. He’s not going to rebuild all of that is he?
I’m guessing there’ll be 3 or 4 quality additions.Name yes, ant least 2 need to be ant the back.
Quality over quantity.

I must say that I thought it would be addressed this season and was more than a little surprised when we started with what we had,so it was no surprise when we had the problems we had, seemed to be addressed for a while but now and for several previous games we have looked (and been) very vulnerable. We also look to be lacking the good movement off the ball we had earlier in the season causing a slow down every time we have the ball.Still prefer Clements to Horton, especially defensively.
I am also waiting for the first numpty to tell me how good the referee was today!!!!

agree with this, last season's defence not built upon except for upgrades in the goal keeping department, started the season shipping goals but our fire power meant we got through this, then mike jones got back in the side and i am guilty of being a broken record but he made a difference and we became harder to break through.

DJ found his way into the team and has stayed there on merit but he does not provide the protection to the backline that jones does,

He’s had enough money to sort it out. No excuse in my opinion, without even talking about defensive tactics which have been mostly absent he needs to be able to adapt during a match which frankly I haven’t seen at all this season and he seems unwilling or rather incapable of changing the way we manage games.

Incapable of changing the way we manage games when we’re 20 points clear. Absolutely mind boggling.

If only we had a better manager we would have won the league this season.

Some of our defensive frailty has to lay at cook's door. Why does he persist in playing a high line?

It's a wild guess on my part, but being 20 points clear at the top of the league might have something to do with it.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

Thinking about this - maybe Cook feels the high line tactic is the best way to get out of this league. Unfortunately, we are going to get caught on the break.
I'm hoping that next season in L2, that he feels the players in the squad are capable of transitioning from the high line tactic of this season in to a more defensive when needed - a mix of both if you will.
For me that would be the complete set of tactics for a promotion push - a mix of attacking football, able to smoothly change and defend and also game manage (which we've learned to do a bit this season).

It’s getting a bit like that recent viral Youtube video of the young female professional golfer being given advice on her swing by some random bloke on the range.

Are you wanting someone with more league titles than Cook or just a different manager with league titles?

Working on the assumption King, Clements and Palmer don’t get new deals, we’ll need to replace them. I’d be surprised if it wasn’t three first choice replacements, with the likes of Horton, Williams and Shecks as 2nd choice. Admittedly pure guesswork at this stage though!

This will defo happen all over the pitch

We are certainly missing colclough and berry down the left. Plus shecks doesn't create down the right. King does

King creates alright….creates defensive mayhem

Seriously? You doubt cooks credentials despite him taking not only this team up but previously having done it and not only us but pompey etc too????

These kind of planks above questioning the most successful manager in our history’s credentials…. B****Y hell go and find something else to do on a Saturday your not welcome at the club.

Let’s be honest if our players had consistency matched their ability they wouldn’t be playing at this level. There’s a reason there in the national league and developing.

How thick are the people who thinks that they can criticise a manager that has taken us top of the table 20pts clear?

It's a forum where fans can discuss and debate anything and everything Chesterfield FC related.
Bit odd that it sounds like you can't comprehend or understand the concept of a debate forum.
Even the likes of Klopp & Liverpool players get discussed and they're at the very top of the tree.
But you've got to have two sets of opinions to make it work, so I respect your comment/ post
