I think it's dangerous to base a budget in crowd projections that are at (or higher) record levels and I don't think he has a handle on the finances at CFC. If the club trades in the black on day to day basis (excluding player sales) then I would say he has done a good job. If the club loses over £1,000,000 in a promotion and wembley final season alarm bells ring.

In short get things right he gets praise.

There is always someone prepared to defend ineptitude

After 22 games this is where we stand.

Average for this season so far 6,803. (20 games)
Average for Saturday games only 7,093. (15 games)
Average for mid-week games only 6,180. (7 games)

Where we are compared with the final average for seasons past:-

2.42% down on season one
4.17% up on season two
25.26% up on season three
7.67% up on season four

With one game left, which admittedly will probably be a full house, even a 10,000 crowd will not push us past the magic 7000, although it will be dammed close, but will it be enough for the "powers that be" or more importantly for us fans?

I personally am more than happy with the figures overall although, given how the season is finishing, I can't but feel a little disappointed with the last few home attendances, are you?

I think 6,500 home fans vs Colchester on a Tuesday night is fine and would have been a few hundred more had the offer been extended to kick off.

Couple of points; what a ridiculously high number of midweek games and is that average of 6803 really based on 20 games or is it a misprunt?

Yes but add into that a 9,000 + play off game and its well over the projected figure- problem solved

I was quite interested to calculate that 2000 at Oldham and 3000 at United in away fans will take our average to over 1000 for this season away.

Means nothing to the powers that be with regard home attendances but round of applause, excellent support!

That's not even including the 5600 to Derby and nearly 2000 to Scunthorpe in the Cups

Well spotted, my mistake, should read.

Sat / Sun only 7,104 (14 games)

Mid week / Boxing Day / Bank Holiday Mon 6,275 (8 games)

Total average 6,803

Sorry again, Crewe just felt like a Saturday.

That also doesn't factor in an extra home game that isn't budgeted for if we get into the play offs + any tv revenue.

Don't think we will be far off 2000 at oldham now it's pay on the day.

Yes but any proceeds, presumably predetermined, go into the league 'pot'.

If we sell out (10k) for Bristol, it would take us to 6942. Sell out (10k) for the play offs and we average over 7000.
A new hope.

After 23 games these are the final figures.

Average for this season 6,925. (23 games)
Average for Saturday games only 7,271. (15 games)
Average for mid-week games only 6,375. (8 games) & Boxing day + B H Mon

A total of 159,271 fans watched a league game at home this season.

Where we finished compared with the final average for seasons past:-

0.68% down on season one
6.04% up on season two
27.51% up on season three
9.61% up on season four

So we fall just short of the 7000, but not by much, and missed out on the best season ever only by 0.68%. Great result in my eyes, what do you think?

Play off crowd should take it past the 7000.

To complete the statistical study, what does the 24th game need to number to take it to 7000? We could struggle if it's MK.

On a Thursday night I'd guess at MK bringing 600, Swindon 1000 & Preston the full lot.

Preston never seem to bring that many when they come here

A crowd of 9000 gets an average of 7,011.

At £14 per head average - a figure quoted on here I believe - that equates to £2.2 million. Add on cup money and Football League grants and how can match revenues not exceed a playing budget, which is supposedly £1.8 million, by some considerable margin? This doesn't even account for transfer fees of around £1.5 million. Is the football actually propping up the rest of the business ?
