We asked him what he’d said and it was centred around our colour, appearance and apparent “privilege”. “White” was used lots of times apparently.

We just wanted some good food. We laugh about it now but it was definitely hostile.

Was it racist? Or attacking our privilege? If the latter why focus on white?

As I say it was one of the customers who said it was racism. We just thought the owner was a “insert non racist insult “.

I think the owner was offended 'cos you couldn't be assed to try to order in their language so demanded that you leave. A recipe for a short career as a restauranteur but hey ho, it's his business.

If that happens the other way around the business is reported and the owner ends up in court ( and rightly so)

As to whether they did or didn't, I obviously don't know.

You’re ignoring the part where the other customer, who seemingly understood what was being said and in what context, felt the language and behaviour constituted racism towards the white customers?

It was racist and out of order. Bad enough if it happened abroad but for it happen here is outrageous really.
