It's not a park and ride it's a train station, my train to Preston used to stop there.
This week, I have been mostly... drinking excessively

As part of the stadium will also be a display that become the signature for the development.  This will be on the scale of the Spanish club that has the badge of every team they have ever hosted on the outside of their ground.  It will be an iconic piece of art that will become synonymous with Chesterfield.  As yet I do not know what it will be.

Sounds very interesting and a great idea.

I'll be happy if I get a seat without a post in front of it.

A millenium development in Coventry has a map of the world laid out on a concorse with the time zones lit up at night in those high intensity coloured lights you see in floors these days. On the hour it has an impressive display of changing lights. How about a map of the UK laid out on the concourse with a appropriately coloured light for every club in the league.

Slight hitch in the plan - as my Geordie mate points out black lights are hard to come by    :P

And i'll be happy as long as i dont have to sit on the wooden bench in the family stand

Just thought that because the new stadium will be seen from the railway line how about making it stand out with some floodlights with pylons that twist like a crooked spire? It would become a famous landmark and really put the club on the map.

Got a spare £15-20M spare.

I've said this before in mind

You forget that the current location of the station is on top of a bridge to you need to redevelop (again i might add) which has cost over £5M to redevelop already. Plus a new station at the other end as the old one was made purely of wood and most of the building was burnt down 2 years ago. so £10M+

New track to be laid, planning permission, maintenance from the government.

a Train Operating Company to donate a service out of there already shortage of stock to run on match days (dont even think Northern nee Arriva, they struggle to run on time never mind have available trains)

The cost to train the drivers to run that route as it is now mainly used as a freight line.

A reorganisation of the timetable to settle for times when trains can run on the line.

more staff at the new station.

Cheaper to do what Wycombe do. Provide a bus its cheap to maintain charge £2 a person 50 people on a bus at anyone time say £100. profit already.

Agree all this talk of a train staion is folly, its going to be hard work to get the ground sorted.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

The bus idea would be way cheaper and easier.

I suppose that a monrail from the town centre is a none starter then? Shame, I used to enjoy that at Buttlins in Skeg.

Seriously, I imagine that resonably priced busses from the town hall or wherever would be well used. Driving to and from the Dema site on match days would be a real pain in the rear end I'd imagine, so anything to avoid having to do that would be very welcome! Especialy after you'd been clamped in Tesco's car park a couple of times.
These pretzels are making me thirsty!

if they set a tram link up it would be intersting regards where the lines would go. would never see it happening but would be better than that retchid service we get at the moment. 50 pence to town from Tapton park!
