they dont see quality width as a necessity?

Not been to any friendlies so ive not seen how weve performed, but have we tried to play with any width? The signings of Talbot and to a lesser extent Till gave us an added dimension, and I presumed we would be signing the former permanently... but it seems not to be the case.

I still see natural width as a major priority... so many goals and chances are created from these areas... does Sheridan agree? Will we get any wide attacking options in?

I would be absolutely astounded if he didn't pick up wingers either before the season starts or in the loan market. His style of football at oldham relied on the use of attack-minded wingers who posessed plenty of ability to carry the ball to the full backs and take them on. If the rumour mill has any credence, Wade Small might well be doing that particular job come Torquay.

Sheridan has also said he would like to bring in a wide player and an additional forward.

''I've been speaking to two or three people. Some of them are with other clubs, preparing for pre-season that way. We'll have to see.

''It may be that we have to use the loan market,'' said Sheridan.

sounds to me like not a lot as change if once again we dont get a permanent fix just keep using the loan market ,one weve used season after season with little or no improvement....

I 've enjoyed a lot of our approach play but at the moment we don't look like a team capable of pushing for promotion in this poor league. I worried that we've only signed Brecks.so far, I'd love to see Talbot back and a decent targetman to partner Jack / Bowery. Boden didn't impress me at all last season, but so far under the new regime he looks a better player although I still wouldn't have him ahead of Bowery as one of the main strikers. We need at least 3 or 4 decent signings if we are going to be a team to be reckoned with.

Campbell-Ryce, Hurst and Bastiens were all effective wide players, we just went downhill as soon as they returned

The lack of wide players to come in to date would suggest so, however I can tell you that on Weds night, Sher was on at Currie to stop out wide.

Played for Charlton yesterday as a triallist so has irons in the fire at a higher level. But then again so did Allott so we'll see.

I was going on your no improvement comment, the three above did improve us, as did Till & Talbot, agree we need a decent one on a permanent basis

Bastians incidentally will be playing in the Bundesliga next season for newly promoted SC Freiburg after leaving the Wankdorf stadium home of Young Boys of Bern earlier this month.

Been talking to a Wednesday fan at work last night who says that SMALL is like s@i&t off a shovel but not very good at crossing.

Does anyone know if he's at Charlton just getting his fitness up seeing as he's a Croydon lad.

One thing for sure, we lack pace in the last third when you take Lowry out of the picture.

Small,Burton,Allott, does anyone think there'll be any more additions.
God I hate this league.

Why was he? Currie was out wide all the time for those of us on the compton even those that don't like the guy....he tried but was being understandably outplayed by a trio of sheffield united players giving him the run around.

He was too deep to be effective. I reckon this season he'll be a lot better with Allott and co. around him
