I can't speak for the main roads as I can't get off the Hollingwood estate to look!

Reading between the lines, I'm guessing you are not in Sunny Tapton then?

Left the car at home this morning and walked across Sheffield Road to Tescos, hardly any cars in there car park, main roads relatively clear down here on Whittington Moor but traffic crawling, side roads are bad and must have at least 2 inches of snow on them, not currently snowing 12.48 but the sky looks full of it.......

Made it to Burger King at Little Chef on Whit Moor at lunch and all roads passable, the main ones are slushy rather then snowy and its currently 1.5 degrees so its not icing up, yet!

Its sleeting currently, not heavilty though.

The main issue, as stated is access to estates/back roads, particular areas of hills where the road is slippery due to compacted snow.

I think the vast majority that got worried, left places early and gridlocked the place will have done the rest a favour and cleared up the roads a bit.

I've also heard that a lot of the problems on Derby Road were caused by two idiots abandoning their cars up by Higham\Shirland and then others having to try and get around them and it was backing traffic up.

We've had good 4-5 inches of snow here, so with Chesterfield being higher i'd have thought you'd have had it worse. It was awful along the M62 this morning... finally got in to Leeds at 10am only to be sent home at half past two. Not looking forward to the repeat episode tomorrow.

Just drove on the A61 from Alfreton and it was as clear as a bell. No problems at all.

Other half was the same. Left work in Alfreton just after 5 and walked in the door about twenty to six.
