Is it just me or is Lee Mason turning into a very good referee? Not many would have had the minerals to, quite rightly, red card Rooney yesterday!

Yep one of our top 6 refs now.
God I hate this league.

Quite right, they were bad. Very bad.

If only we had the full match highlight's on Player.

Actually, the incident that probably set him off down the slippery slope to Dithering was not sending off Banks. However people judge the mitigating circumstances, it was an over the top tackle. This then affected his judgement on other decisions because of the fear of being accused of inconsistency.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

I said at the time that Banks was extremely lucky to stay on the field. I think the ref decided to be lenient, and that set the benchmark for all the stuff that followed.
Having kept Banks on the field he had to let the other stuff go. Only explanation I can think of.

The incident is shown on the Notts County extended highlights. Banks has his foot all of about six inches off the ground, no studs up, just his foot sideways on to try to take the pace off the ball as their guy lets the ball start to run away from him. Careless, perhaps. Reckless. Hardly.

I'm sure we're all looking forward to the match on Satutday...U think the the FL will field a more experience team of officials for such a big derby game? I think the linesmen lately have looked incredibly young (unless I'm just getting older).

I'd hate Saturday to be spoilt by poor decision making.

Can't remember his name but I thought the ref away a Preston was good...

Agreed, they all were spot on. Both were red cards and booked players from both sides when they deserved it

Not sure I agree with you all on this one! Foul on Jones was a clear red so well done the ref on that one. Not sure on Tommy's, looked like their player jumped over an outstretched leg from where I was sat as opposed to any contact being made, but I'd like to see a replay as everyone else's reaction suggests I might just have seen that one wrong.

Not sure how anyone can justify the foul on Robbo when clean through being anything other than a stonewall red though? Hand on his shoulder, pulling him back and pushing him to the ground - never anywhere near the ball so definitely not a tackle. The only justification for not giving a pen would be that he thought he had dived surely, in which case where was the yellow?

I think he bottled it after having already sent two off and not wanting to be seen as the ref who let the game descend into chaos. Poor refereeing there from my view, although generally he was ok. He let a fair bit go, and didn't book Doyle for uprooting the corner flag to celebrate with when he easily could have. Had a shocker with the foul on Roberts though.

He obviously didn't think it was a foul; he looked over at the linesman for assistance and the lineman shook his head...I think it was a foul as Robbo had nothing to gain by going to ground but apart from that I thought the ref handled the game well. He kept control of the game well and didn't take and sh.t off the players which it good to see. I'd welcome him back.

It was a very tough game to officiate. You'll never make all the right calls all of the time, but it's about managing the game and keeping control of it; he did that very well today.

Should have been the linesman's decision about the penalty, as both players were running away from the ref. Linesman bottled it, the ref thought he probably had as well, and therefore wouldn't give a penalty but wouldn't book Roberts either.
Only explanation I can think of. It had to be either a penalty or a yellow for diving.

I agree. Especially as a penalty would have resulted in another red card...

I think Margarita should have been sent off...Evo was clever to continue running to pretend he was a covering defender!

Did I imagine another incident in the game where the referee was about to blow for a Town penalty but changed his mind due to inactivity from the lino? Was that when Robbo went through?

What major decisions did you think he got wrong?

I thought there was only two which could be debatable, Margaritas tackle and Roberts penalty appeal. Both looked decent enough although they need a second look

He also let the game flow as much as was possible
