Confirming that Sam Morsy IS staying at Chesterfield. Only a sizeable bid would have tempted. No new deal, though, so swings & roundabouts.

Guess we've got more chance with Saunders and Turner in his ear for 3/4 months but if I were him I wouldn't be in any rush and look at fixing myself a good deal for next season at another club

The rest of the team who we want to keep have all just signed extended contracts so that would suggest they're happy with their deals, Morsy should be offered a bit more but nothing too silly.

And fair play to the Chairman for standing by his guns, so to speak, and not accepting a sub-standard offer.
As for the future a great deal can happen between now and the new year.

A great deal that involves him penning a new 5 year contract with us

Can Chesterfield fc match the players ambitions though? If we pay him what he wants the club would probably overspend and be short again for squad building and pushing on to the next level. If we don't offer him the money he wants and use the funds to strengthen in Jan, just in case we are serious about a push, he wont be here anyway because his deal will have expired and will be likely to treble what we can offer.

If you match the money he can get in the championship, where would you rather play at town or the championship? It won't be just about money, but ambition to play at the highest level he can
