Strange Thing Just Happened To Me…

I’m currently on a small island off the coast of Western Africa, as I was walking down a quiet road this morning towards a beach I bumped into a local bloke wearing a town shirt. He noticed my town cap, came over, said something in Creole which included the word “Spirites”. He shook my hand and went on his merry way.

You can keep your Hollywood A listers, this bloke was the real deal.

If he rides a pushbike with flat tyres it could have been.

I sincerely hope your spelling error is to indicate a strong accent from the chap.

It was his accent, hence why I put it in quotes. Guess you didn’t “get it” but at least you got your bit of oneupmanship in. This message board never fails in that department.

He was a big fella so I wasn’t going to try to correct him. I knew what he meant.

I was actually joking but seems I’ve found a human being who’s more touchy and sensitive than my good lady.

Out of interest, by dropping the ‘e’ from our clubs nickname, how does it make it sound or be pronounced differently?

He pronounced it “Spirit-hez”

I’m not touchy, because I knew what I meant and what he said. You just got the hump because you didn’t like the spelling. Don’t worry about it, I get where you’re coming from as spelling is a big thing on here.

Some folk would have just called the lad a “thick cretin”. I was just happy to shake his hand.

Anyway, I’m off to drown my sorrows as I failed to catch any fish on my trip today.

The VK Kick one. I’m going down that way again on Saturday so if I see him I’m going to give him mine and get a photo.

Ignore him - Warfey’s on one of his ‘homophobic/gay jesting’ days today - they’ve probably switched his meds or something.

Judging by the spelling you may have bumped into Barabas.

Does anyone happen to still have access to the photo of "Franklyn" the Nigerian scammer Spireite? Looked in the original thread but couldn't get it to load.

Still the greatest ever thread on this board.

Hi Quaker. Hope you're enjoying your holiday. I sent you a PM a couple of days ago but I'm not sure if you have received it as it said action failed after I clicked on send so I sent it again in the hope you get it. Better luck with the fishing tomorrow mate.

Got it mate, thanks. 👍🏼. I’ve decided against the sea fishing on Sat, forecast is it’s going to be a bit choppy so I’ll have a day be the beach instead. 👍🏼
