A younger player can learn with experience but it is more difficult to get an older, more experienced, player to do things differently.
I like the idea that we have different styles of player competing for the same position but not necessarily the same role in the team. This helps the manager with his pre-match planning, gives the opportunity to choose horses for courses, and tactically use the squad on a rotational basis after identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition plus, of course, change things during a game if necessary.
